The executive producer of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, David Eick, sat down with Now Playing Magazine to talk about the upcoming third season of the show.

Eick confirmed that 20 episodes have been ordered and will be run continuously except for a break over the Christmas holiday.

Eick said, "The first three episodes are serialized. Episode Four is pretty much a standalone. Five and Six is a two-parter about the discovery of a dying base ship and a plague that has befallen the Cylons. Seven is standalone. Eight is a memory episode that goes back to that lost year and some of the things that took place. Nine is basically teeing up where we're going in the season finale, which is discovering the next big clue on the road to Earth. That is the centerpiece of the next episodes, the 10 and 11 two-parter".

The shows season arc hasn't been fully planned as of the interview, but Lucy Lawless, Richard Hatch, and Dean Stockwell are all returning to reprise their roles.

The pre-Christmas episodes are expected to run with the second season of DOCTOR WHO, while the second half of the season should run with STARGATE.

I love Battlestar Galactica, and I can't wait!

In an uncertain world, it's reassuring to know that some things will never change.

And for Glen Larson to say: “I understand they’re trying to do a modern version,” says Larson. “But change for the sake of change — it’s taking the title and exploiting it.” I have three words: Team Knight Rider.

spiderhole, I have three words for you, "Do your research". The next time you want to attack a genius like Glen Larson for something he only EXECUTIVE PRODUCED, but in fact DID NOT write, direct, or create you may want to think before commenting on matters you don't truly understand kid. http://imdb.com/title/tt0127398/fullcredits#writers Clever wit only works when you understand the punchline and clearly you didn't do your homework. Glen had every right to make his comments on BSG because he knows what his vision should be, there is nothing "fun" about his creation anymore there is only "drama". Class dismissed. =V=

spider987, why the hate. You just have an aversion to fantastic science fiction?
coldhardtruth 7/15/2006 1:24:39 PM
spidDUH, you are a moron. A sad, pathetic Troll. Again, success and high ratings don't mean something is good.

I wonder, spiderr, did you ever get nailed in school for plagarism........all you ever seem to do is dredge up other people's words.......how 'bout some good ol' critical thinking on your part?
coldhardtruth 7/15/2006 5:08:00 PM
How about you post something you haven't before? No one really reads your tripe anymore. Please get off the computer and play with your dollies in your room.

Well, although Spyder is right that the new BG hasn't won an Emmy, it did win a Hugo, a Peabody and a Saturn award and was named the best show on television by no less than Time magazine (as well as making the best of TV lists of Newsday, the Chicago Tribune and the American Film Institute). I don't think the original ever came anywhere close to receiving such accolades, not to mention approaching the quality of acting, dialogue, writing and effects. Seriously, doesn't anyone from Cinescape monitor this board? If all Spyder is going to do is clog up every BG-related story posting the same 3-year-old stories, you would think someone would bother to ban him from the boards. If he wants to say something new or something related to the stories he responds to, fine. But if all he is going to do is clog the boards with repetitive random crap to make them less useful, then kick his ass out already!

Glen A. Larson was a driving creative force in the 80s and as much as people enjoyed the original Battlestar Galactica, they tend to forget he also worked on/created McCloud, The Fall Guy, Magnum P.I. and the still wildly popular retro hit Knight Rider. The man didn't need to depend on Star Wars for his ideas, he's more then proven his range. He approached his shows with an equal balance of linear storytelling that mixed humor, action, and drama in a even balance of entertainment that captured your attention and did not let go until the episode was finished. The new BSG has the same goal but a wildly different approach, it relies on real world issues in a space setting and political/military based drama, perhaps TOO MUCH drama. People Glen's shows were a means for escape from the real world. Yes some of his series delt with real world issues but there was always that element of danger and adventure that made it interesting. The real world is very boring and very mundane, this is why a "true" reality television that is entirely unscripted doesn't work. We want danger, we want drama, we want explosions and wild impossible action! The fact of the matter is this, "To each their own." I personally can't stand the oversaturated drama, redundant space battles, and clone this clone that crap of the new BSG, you miss one episode and you're lost... But I will not condemn others who do enjoy it, if it's not your cup of tea don't watch it but on the same hand if someone else likes something you don't you have to have the courage to agree to disagree and move the hell on. =V=
