Universal Home Video has set a October 5, 2004 release date for the remake of
DAWN OF THE DEAD. Two versions of Zack Snyder's zombie apocalypse feature will be available to own, one being the theaterical cut and the other being an unrated edition of the film. Both will be presented in widescreen anamorphic format.
Here come the goodies, but pay attention because there are differences between the rated and unrated discs:
For the theatrical (rated) edition of the film the bonus features will include an audio commentary by director Snyder and producer Eric Newman; an original short film titled "The Lost Tape: Andy's Terrifying Last Days Revealed"; a feature titled "Special Bulletin: We Interrupt This Program"; a featurette called "Surviving DAWN OF THE DEAD; "undead" scenes (which include commentary by Snyder); and additional DVD-ROM features.
The unrated DVD will feature all of the above bonus features as well as two additional featurettes: "Attack of the Living Dead" and "Splitting Headaches: Anatomy of Exploding Heads". As well, the unrated edition of the film will feature an additional nine minutes of new material included back into the movie.
The DVD features audio in Dolby Digital 5.1 and will include English, French and Spanish audio tracks. Each version of DAWN OF THE DEAD will be priced at $29.98.
