Dawn of the Planet of the Apes arrives December 2, 2014

I don’t know about you Maniacs, but am I the only one who is excited for more Planet of the Apes movies? It certainly seems that way around the office. I tell you what I don’t appreciate, teases of trailers. That’s right, here we have a teaser trailer for the second Dawn of the Planet of the Apes trailer. Enjoy what you can!

Synopsis: A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar (Serkis) is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species.

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES features Keri Russell, Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Kodi-Smit McPhee and Gary Oldman. The film is directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield).

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES arrives July 11th, 2014.

Don't those mean apes feel bad about forcing those horses to be their slaves after the way they were treated?

You aren't the only one Trate. I'm excited as hell for this flick but it doesn't seem like there are many from reading other threads on here, but the reboot did great business so I'm sure the fans will turn out. Keep the dawn news coming!

I'm excited to see it also! I'll be skipping most previews thought for it. I think the new series makes more sense then the original but I still love the original series.

The Planet of the Apes was a seminal movie. The ones that followed had a very interesting moral. The remakes are very well done, especially the last one. I don't like remakes, and I am not a fan of the genre, but I am curious about this one. The books were better, though!

I'll have to check those novels out. It was just weird in the original series how cats and dogs die from a vius so we use monkies as slaves.

Yeah, these teasers for teasers are really lame.  I hate them.

On another note, anyone seen the second trailer for TMNT?  It provides a much better look at the turtles themselves, but I'm still not sure what to make of it.  Whether or not I should be looking forward to it.

This is a rental for me; I have never found anything related to the Planet of the Apes very interesting.  I did find the last film moderately interesting though.

Actually there's only one real Planet of the Apes book.  It was a french sci-fi novel written by Pierre Boulle in 1963 . The english translation is still in print and available from places like Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
Amazon contributors give the book an average rating of 4-1/2 stars (the kindle version is only $5.99).
From what I've read the original book is much different from the movies.  The bank of writers (including Twilight Zone's Rod Serling) that fashioned the script of the original movie made wholesale changes to Boulle's novel most notably changing the ape society into a more primitive one while in the Boulle book the apes live in a modern society and drive vehicles and the such.

All of the other Planet of the Apes books, and graphic novels (written by assorted authors) were inspired by and released after the movies and are similar to those Star Wars and Star Trek novels we see in the bookstores.  Sort of reminds me of all the movies and books that were inspired my Mary Shelley's single Frankenstein novel.

I'm looking forward to this, but can we please stop the teaser of the teasers?  I don't get it.  If it's a social networking hype builder then why not just release a 6 second vine video teaser of the trailer.  I really don't get the appeal of Vine either, but it would make more sense for something like this.
