Countdown

Dawn Of A Whole Lot More

Welcome to another week of the Countdown where you get to stay in the know about what there is to know about game releases. This week we have a strong handful of games, which helps boost the quality and quantity that we have been missing in the past few weeks. I am happy to say that I would not mind trying out each of these games, which probably means that you would enjoy doing so as well. This week in gaming we had a turbulent start to the Halo 3 beta specifically for those that paid money by buying Crackdown. I was able to get onto the beta and it plays fairly nice and looks great, but I was not a hardcore Halo 2 multi-player so I am wondering if it was worth all of the trouble to get it. Anyways before I rant on about what I had to go through it is time to get to the games of the week.

Odin Sphere (PS2) - The nations of Erion had always held an uneasy peace, as the various kings and queens watched each other for any signs of weakness. When the country of Valentine is obliterated by the power of an ancient artifact, it sparks a bloody war between the fairies of Ringford and the warriors of Ragnanival. All that you really need to know is that the game looks amazing, and like most Atlus games it is worthy of being picked up.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (PS2 - PSP - Xbox 360 - PS3 - Wii - DS) - With one of the three May blockbusters out of the way, of course it is time to move onto the next movie. Here we have the game for Pirates of the Caribbean movie, which may be somewhat fun for those that enjoy the movie.

Dawn of Mana (PS2) - Long ago, when the world was at peace and magic yet unknown to man, a beautiful isle called Illusia floated in the center of the Inner Sea. Over the island towered the great Mana Tree, source of all life. Of course what really matters is that it continues with the Mana series that Square has tucked away under its belt for quite some time, but this one will be a bit more of a 3D adventure. Mainly because I enjoyed the previous incarnations, even the GBA version, and because of that I am willing to give it the nod for Game of the Week.

Brooktown High Senior Year (PSP) - Do you feel like you want to go back to school and redo some of the worst moments in your life? Well rather than creating a time machine, which may have incidentally removed you from existence, why not just attempt to relive it on your PSP? You have the option of playing either as a boy or a girl, but you also are allowed to customize either any which way you want. It may just be the best PSP game of the week.

Diner Dash (PSP - DS) - In Diner Dash, you play the restaurant entrepreneur Flo, out to work her way up to the top of the food service industry. Of course you will be juggling customers just as much as you will be juggling their orders, but only those that remain organized will make it to the top.

Marvel Trading Card Game (DS) - A perfect game for those wanting to play with the Marvel Trading cards without investing hundreds of dollars to get a good deck.

Naruto Ninja Council 3 (DS) - Just a general tie-in game to follow in the progressing anime series in North America.

Well who would have guessed I would have given the nod to Dawn of Mana? Probably any RPG fan out there salivating over some of its graphics. Hopefully I can convince Square-Enix to send me a copy but if you have been staying tuned to the previous Countdowns you probably know that they can be fairly fickle at times. Anyways hopefully those that have an Xbox 360 and have Crackdown are enjoying either the game or the Halo 3 beta. I will admit both the download content and the beta makes the game (Crackdown) worth playing, despite the fact that Crackdown deleted my agent data with the newest update. Before I vent on that though, this is Captain Gordon signing off.

I'm waiting for that Marvel Trading Card Game for the PC. Should be fun, I enjoyed the card game when I was in Chicago.
