On its first day of release this past Tuesday
THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW sold a whopping 2.6 million combined DVD and VHS copies throughout North America, earning Fox Home Entertainment a nice sum of $47 million dollars to add to its savings accounts. When international sales are factored in,
TOMORROW netted $72 M total -- and the title hasn't even gone on sale yet in the United Kingdom, France or Italy.
The title is virtually guaranteed to be the top seller for the week in home video. That would make it the fifth number one debuting home video release for Fox (with
THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST,
THE GIRL NEXT DOOR,
MAN ON FIRE and
STAR WARS TRILOGY being the previous four.)
