Day Break Gets a Date

By: STEPHEN LACKEY
Date: Sunday, January 21, 2007

When the highly underappreciated series Day Break was canceled ABC promised that the remaining episodes, which had already been filmed, would be posted online at abc.com.  Instead what happened was they didn’t get posted, and the episodes that were already online got pulled.  The word is that there were licensing issues with the music.  Now all of that has been worked out and we’re finally getting those remaining episodes.  Also, if you didn’t watch the series when it originally aired ABC is also posting all the previously aired episodes as well, so the whole series will be online for your viewing pleasure.  Here are the dates that the episodes will start appearing online:

Episodes 101 through 110 Jan.29th

Episode 111 Feb. 5th

Episode 112 Feb. 11th

Episode 113 Feb. (series finale) Feb. 19th

If you haven’t seen this show I highly encourage you to check it out.  It’s slick, suspenseful, and addictive.  The entire story is told from beginning to end in 13 episodes so there’s no filler.

As for what’s on TV this week, well there’s a lot of really good stuff.  My big picks are Prison Break, 24, Heroes, The Dresdin Files, and Battlestar Galactica.  Monday nights are really gonna heat my DVR up!

Monday

PRISON BREAK (FOX, 8:00pm PST) “John Doe”

This when they stop running.  Kellerman, Michael, and Linc head for a confrontation with Terrance Steadman.  Does anyone else see the humor in the title of this episode?  Hint: it has to do with one of the main actors….

24 (FOX, 9:00pm PST) “Day 6 10AM to 11 AM”

CTU and President Palmer have to deal with the aftermath of the nuclear bomb going off and as soon as Jack quit the fight he rededicates himself to it.

HEROES (NBC, 9:00pm PST) “Godsend”

Hiro goes on a quest for the mysterious sword, Nathan and Simone try to help Peter who’s been comatose for weeks, and a new hero arrives on the scene.  There’s a new slogan for the show but I’m trying to ignore it due to the letdown of last fall’s slogan.

CSI MIAMI (NBC, 9:00pm PST) “Throwing Heat”

A Cuban refugee is killed when he steps on a land mine shortly after arriving in the U.S.  Tripp steps on another one during the investigation and is rescued by the bomb squad.  Evidence leads the team to believe that an assasin may be the culprit.

Tuesday

NCIS (CBS, 8:00pm PST) “Sharif Returns”

The discovery of a dead marine who worked with chemical weapons leads the team into conflict with an old nemesis.

VERONICA MARS (CW, 9:00pm PST) “Show Me the Monkey”

Veronica and Mac pose as members of an on-campus animal rights group to search for a monkey missing from a research laboratory.

DIRTY JOBS (DSC, 9:00pm PST) “Mule Logger”

A series where the host works with those each episode that do some of the “dirtiest jobs”.  He learns to make barrels and toast the insides of them over an open flame and he does something called mule logging.

Wednesday

MYTH BUSTERS (DSC, 9:00pm PST) “Underwater Car”

The team investigates the feasibility of escaping a car submerged under water.  They also attempt to fold a piece of paper in half more than seven times.

CSI: NY (CBS, 10:00pm PST) “The Lying Game”

A female impersonator is found dead in a men’s room stall.  He was drowned in the toilet.  In another case a body is found insode a city salt truck.

MEDIUM (NBC, 10:00pm PST) “Better Off Dead”

Allison begins seeing two ghosts that have made friends in her visions.  One of the ghosts mysteriously turns down Allison’s attempts to figure out who killed him.

Thursday

CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION (CBS, 9:00pm PST) “Redrum”

Keppler persuades Catherine to help him fake a crime scene to fake out their co-workers in an attempt to catch the west coast’s biggest drug supplier who is also a suspect in a murder.

SMALLVILLE (CW, 8:00pm PST) “Labyrinth”

Clark finds himself trapped in an alternative reality where he is stripped of his powers and under observation in an insane asylum.

SUPERNATURAL (CW, 9:00pm PST) “Night Shifter”

Sam and Dean investigate a series of bank robberies committed by the most unlikely of suspects who then kill themselves.  Autopsies reveal that the thieves had all died days before the robberies.

Friday

THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT (BRAVO, 9:00pm PST)

Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson star in this film about a female assassin who loses her memory.  When she begins to feel like something’s missing she hires Jacks, a private detective to investigate causing her one time superiors to realize she isn’t dead like they thought.  So, they again mark her for death.  This film is better than you think, written by the same writer behind the first Lethal Weapon film.

THE DAILY SHOW WITH JOHN STEWART (COMEDY, 8:00pm PST)

John is back with his news crew ready to bring their own hilarious spin to current events and other news items.

COLBERT REPORT (COMEDY, 8:30pm PST)

Colbert interviews Mike Wallace and brings his brand of offbeat humor to current events.

Saturday

THE SIXTH SENSE (ABCFAM, 7:00pm PST)

M. Night Shyamalan’s break out film featuring Haley Joel Osment and Bruce Willis garnered an Oscar nomination for best picture.  Osment plays a child plagued with the ability to see dead people and Willis plays the doctor trying to help him.

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN (ABC, 8:00pm PST)

Directed by Steven Spielberg this film follows the exploits of a young con man as he passes himself off as a pilot, a doctor, and a lawyer while passing over $4 million in bad checks.  Tom Hanks plays the FBI agent whose casing the con man down.

TRUE LISE (FMC, 8:00pm PST)

James Cameron brought us this fast and funny action flick with Arnold Schwarzenegger as a spy who keeps it a secret from his bored wife played by Jamie Lee Curtis.

Sunday

THE SIMPSONS (FOX, 7:00pm PST) “Revenge is a Dish Best Served Three Times””

Another Simpsons parody, this time of The Count of Monte Cristo where Homer learns three lessons about revenge from stories told by Marge, Lisa, and Bart.

DRESDIN FILES (SCIFI, 9:00pm PST) “The Boone Identity”

Harry helps a man who is being haunted by the ghost of his daughter who was killed in a robbery involving an Egyptian tablet.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (SCIFI, 10:00pm PST) “Taking a Break From All Your Worries”

Baltar is imprisoned on Galactica and accused of treason which leads to an attempted suicide.

True Lise? Should that not be spelled "Lies"? And where is that idiot KJ and his snide "take" for every damned thing that gets posted?

snallygaster • Jan 21, 2007, 08:37am •
KJ is Karl. This column is written by Stephen. Ergo, no KJ commentary.

DAYBREAK was the best show on tv why did abc cancell it. i was pissed not knowin how its going to end. ABC are morons. hopefully the last episode that will be online will have an ending. they also should put the series on dvd. because its a badass 12 hour movie

I cannot understand why the KJ thing is so difficult for people to figure out.

The other thing I don't get is the inclusion of Daily Show and Colbert Report on Friday's listing when both shows air (new episodes anyway) Monday-Thursday.

Damn, you can't visit this site anymore without reading some jackass's post about spelling, grammer or bitching about KJ. If you don't have something on topic, then freakin' beat it.

I have to agree, The Long Kiss was a pretty decent movie, but SLJ is awesome in it. Glad to see some of TV's interesting shows returning and I can't wait for Monday night. While I'm at it, I'll add another plug for Friday Night Lights, one of the best new shows and it seems to be flying under the radar.

Bjjdenver--I'm sorry, but when a posting's spelling and grammar is muddled to the point of "True Lise," there is legitimate reason to call the editors to task on it. The errors in question are in this post, so that makes a "bitching" on topic.

Moreso, when commentary as innane as KJ's is included in the body of an article (which is not the case in this situation, so feel free to call me on getting off-topic), there's a reason to complain. If Mania doesn't want to lose readers, they'll crank up the quality control just a bit.

It might be important to add that the Martian Manhunter plays a role in helping Clark in Smallville this week.

I have to agree with jetpackjesus about the inclusion of Daily Show and Colbert in this listing. I would think someone would include a show like Hyperdrive which premiered on BBC America this past Friday (even if it has been on in the UK for some time now) and put that on these weekly listings.

xRAMBOx I think you are the moron and not ABC. Before going around yelling at ABC maybe you should know the facts.

The show's ratings were so low that they almost started losing to reruns of One Tree Hill. That's just terrible. So they pulled it.

alright, maybe picking on the spelling is petty but I agree about the editing standards, at least make an effort. and by the way, it's DRESDEN....http://www.scifi.com/dresden/.... ok? and this isn't the first time it's been misspelled here. that's not being petty, that's the name of one of the shows you're talking about!

Sad that folks can't find real things to complain about. I am pretty sure most, if not all of us can understand something regardless of mispelling. Really, give up folks
