After rumored massive reshoots for the film, Millenium Films have set a February theater release, two years after it was intended to hit markets. I'm not sure how many of you saw the first trailer of the DAY OF THE DEAD remake back in late 2006 but the feedback for it was horrible. The film stalled from its release and went back to the planning table where massive reshoots were scheduled. It was at this point where a lot of horror fans wondered what happened to the film which was said to be coming to theaters finally sometime in 2007. Well, wonder no longer...While at the Scream Awards, star Christa Campbell said it's hitting theaters Feb of 2008.

This indicates that the reshoots and new story have been filmed and they've entered post-production. No new trailer for the reworking is yet available but I'll put up the critically bashed trailer from last year for your viewing pleasure (or frustration)..

Here it is.

yeah thats frustrating. It kinda looked like it would be Day of the Dead remake (in name only) since the US soldiers were the only link to the original movie.. hopefully the reshoots will make the film stronger, since the original is largely considered the weakest link in Romero's quadralogy. ...also lets have a happy mix of slow AND fast moving zombies... show us you know how to build a little suspense with the slow ones and shock the hell outta us with the fast ones.

From what I've heard, or read I guess, the biggest issue with the first draft of the film, is that a vegetarian soldier becomes a non threatening good guy zombie in the film... no I am not kidding.... hope that has changed..

Come on, Mad, you have to be joking. Please tell me you`re joking......please.. Mena Suvari, Nick Cannon? I really hope that they changed the cast too. Day of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead.. How about "Mid-Afternoon of the Dead"?

Well, that didn't look terrible, but it didn't look great. I hope the new and improved movie has a better feel to it. Like when i saw the trailer for the remake of Dawn of the Dead, I knew I wanted to see it.....this one is more like,,,,ehhhh....if I see it, I see it.
Whiskeymovie 10/22/2007 7:35:05 AM
Oh, and is Ving Rhames plaing the same character as he did in Dawn, or do they just love in in Zombie remakes?
WISEGUY562 10/22/2007 8:34:30 AM
Rhames was a cop, not a soldier in Dawn. Madmanic if you're not joking then I don't blame them for pulling the plug on the first take. Zombie movies need to be able to keep you on the edge with suspense because the gore shock value isn't there anymore. Hope they can pull it off even though it looks remarkably similar to 28 Days. But then again maybe all zombie movies resemble each other.

George - Don't forget to copyright this one.

I think we need a break from Zombie movies for awhile. They have made so many lately. Let's take and do something else for awhile.

All "...of the Dead" movies blur together as one to me. Other than 28 Days Later and Shaun of the Dead I can't tell one from the other. Well other than the Dawn remake. I did like that, but I'll probably wait til this hits cable.

George hasn't screwed up a copyright in 40 years...give the man a break! There are still a few Zombie movies on the horizon including Romero's Diary of the Dead and Max Brooks' World War Z.
