Some people got to screen an early print of Pacific Rim including director Rian Johnson (Looper) anyway, he tweeted along with some other people that it was fantastic and that the effects were great. Really looking forward to this.

James Cameron won his first copyright lawsuit for avatar today. They said on yahoo he had to outline his plans for the series which proved it was different than the guys story who was suing him. Article says in doing so he gave away alot of plot points for the sequels but they didn't give them away. Would like to know what he told the judge. It won't ruin the experience when the sequels come out. Got excited for some avatar news I guess.

Good to hear shac. I know some weeks back the judge had ordered Cameron to turn over his original script I believe. I think we all are used to seeing lawsuits when anything becomes as popular as Avatar did.

He needs to get going with the sequels already.

As for Pacific Rim, I read a similar account. I try to take those reports with a grain of salt because it's mostly insiders getting the first look and not all f/x were complete. I'm looking forward to this but I've said it before that despite the awesomeness it sounds like this far off it just isn't getting me excited to the level of any of the FF films this year (IM, Supes, Wolvie & Thor)

Just reading the Avatar news. The case where Cameron was ordered to turn over his script is a separate case that's still pending. But I think just like this one it'll be thrown out because Cameron supposedly turned in a scriptment over to the studio in 96 and the guy in this case claims to have met Cameron in 99.

Guess we'll see.

I feel that way to about early screening but Pacific Rim just looks promising to me and I'm not even really a big Del Toro fan. We'll see.

I agree with you though, I don't think anything could beat my excitement for Man of Steel and IM 3.

Random thot of the day:

The Avengers movie wouldn't have been so successful if it wasn't for ... Iron Man. That initial blockbuster made TS/RDJ famous and got the ball rolling. I recall watching the end of Incredible Hulk and Tony made the cameo - one of the audience said "Wow, its Tony Stark". If IM wasn't a smash hit, not many ppl would have cared about the shared universe. I guess WB is hoping for similar success with MOS and DCU.

(Now that I have written it down, it seems this has been said a zillion times before on this site lol)

Ahh yes viti it has :) but hey how many times have we said or read "can't wait" or similar statements made over and over and over and over and over.........eh we're used to it.

Still, you are right and the whole world knows it and WB/DC is hoping for the same effect. I hope they get it too

vitieddie 2/6/2013 5:05:59 AM

WB/DC must be crossing their fingers, toes and other body parts lol ... "can't wait" for summer!

Does anyone else find Pacific Rim to be a funny title? :)

Wiseguy 2/6/2013 5:14:09 AM

Nope and someone living down under shouldn't either. Guess all the kaijus come from that area.

I think a slightly better title would've been Ring of Fire, well now that I sound it off maybe not. But it would make sense since it refers to the earthquake prone region which would explain how the kaijus were set loose. Then again both names refer to the basically the same are anyway.

Just read there was an earthquake near the Solomon Islands, some casualties. Hope the best for the folk out there.
