IGN had an interesting news announcement yesterday. They are reporting that a “well-known entertainment reporter Nikki Finke” has discovered the upcoming DC Comics Movie Slate. This news isn’t official, but some of these titles we know do have official release dates. We also know that Joeseph Gordon-Levitt is playing Sandman. We’ll do some more digging on this “slate of movies”. For now we want to know your opinion on these titles and release dates.

May 2016 – Batman v Superman

July 2016 – Shazam

Xmas 2016 – Sandman

May 2017 – Justice League

July 2017 – Wonder Woman

Xmas 2017 – Flash and Green Lantern team-up

May 2018 – Man of Steel 2

Will all of these be announced at Comic Con next month? Can Shazam really go into production that quickly?

The only one I am interested in is Flash - Green Lantern. Shazam being potentially rushed so quick to that date can only mean one thing. Cack. Big fat horses cack.

Sounds like as good a plan as any. We just have to see the quality of the movies. We know how the Marvel/Disney movies are and how they work. MoS is the first in their new line of DC movieverse films so we we only have one to go by. If you didn't like it or liked it might decide how you feel.

Me, I liked it.

I think it has potential on paper.  My only want as a fan, is that they recognize The Flash and Green Arrow from the CW shows, and potentially Constantine and Dr. Fate should they ever do a DC Dark movie.  I want my TV and Movie continuity to be fluid!

Hmmm, which version of Sandman are they doing?  Are they going for the Neil Gaiman demigod or Wesley Dodds?

This is cool, always fun for a studio to be optimistic and have a release schedule like Disney Marvel but will they commit? Not sure. We've already had one changed date with Batman v Superman. A prime example is Sony and all of their dates they selected for the Spidey spinoffs and sequels. They just backtracked and bumped Spidey 3 to a year later and removed Spidey 4.

Has there been any word on who will be playing Flash for the BvS cameo? I'm with soloshot and would love to see the cinematic and TV universes work together ala Marvel's.

Karas1 I believe it is the Gaiman version of Sandman. Joseph Gordon-Levit is actually producing & directing. Not sure if he’s in front of the camera too.

So DC isn't coming out with a single thing until 2016. Looks like Marvel just took their lunch money

I'd rather have DC take their time and do it right, rather than rush it in an attempt to compete with Marvel. The lunch money will still be there.

As usual  I'm late to the party.  I thought Batman V Superman was essentially MoS 2.  Now I see a separate MoS 2 movie slated for May 2018 (4 years from now).  Is the Superman character still interesting and relevant?  This is a very optimistic schedule.  Usually the popularity of specific movie genres like this has a shelf life for mass consumption (after fatigue sets in the genre can be resusitated after a brief hiatus) I'm old enough to remember when people couldn't get enough westerns or gangster movies then suddenly they were gone.  Is the expiration date for Comic Book flicks fast approaching.  Now I'll grant you that the fanboys commenting here would be happy to see a new comic book super hero movie every week from now until the day they die...but it's the casual fans who will decide the continued success of these films. Disney and Warner Bros. (I never mention Marvel and DC as they are 2 companies that were bought out some time ago) will have to work hard to keep this stuff fresh and lively even if it means radically changing / updating some of the mythology.  Shazam couldn't sound more stupid (some might wonder if this is about a magician or  a genie) the guy is called Captain Marvel.

Blankczech, I think he's officially called SHAZAM now in the new 52. I've heard they dropped the whole Captain Marvel for copyright reasons. I don't know for sure. It's just what I've heard.
