It seems that another late 80's film is getting remade in Hollywood. Producer Michael De Luca has teamed with Alison Rosenzweig and Michael Gaeta to develop a remake of the 1987 Mickey Rourke supernatural thriller Angel Heart. Variety reports that producers optioned remake rights from a private U.K. firm, which owns the rights to the original Carolco/TriStar film. De Luca, Rosenzweig and Gaeta also optioned the underlying book rights to William Hjortsberg's novel "Falling Angel," from which the original film was adapted.
Plot Concept: The story follows the exploits of Harry Angel, a New York detective hired by a mysterious client to track down a once-popular performer indebted to him. While pursuing this seemingly routine investigation, Harry encounters dark and supernatural forces.
The original was a great movie. But it is one of those movies that you have to figure out stuff and with a surprise ending. If this is going to have the same ending then its not much of a mystery to the ppl that saw the original like myself. PLEASE PPL DONT SPOIL THE ENDING TO THE PPL THAT NEVER SAW THIS MOVIE.
The original was pretty good, but I've gotta ask why remake it? It's still a fairly modern movie that doesn't have any gapping flaws. Is someone that strapped for ideas?
*spoiler alert*
At the end, Bill Cosby comes out and fires everyone.
The original was ok. A few people I knew kept telling me how good it was and that i'd love it, so being stupid, I watched it with high expectaions. It is good, but I thought it was quite predictable. Just my thoughts.
Anyway, I agree with Amish... why remake it? Damn you Hollywood! *headsdesk*
No. No. No. No. No. Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT remake this movie! Fyi, ponyboy, the original movie kicks *major* ass. Mickey Rourke and Robert De Niro at their peaks. Hot young Lisa Bonet. Atmosphere galore. Killer story with good twists. I LOVE this movie. It rocks!
The original is okay, it was on the bit of the odd side at the time it was made, in today's movie world and society at large, this wouldn't register very high. Still, I don't think that this one was worthy of a remake....
I was just thinking about this movie just the other day too....guess I shouldn't have done that.....
Pony it’s a great movie, especially for the time it was made.
Spoiler!
Roarke’s character fights a 3,000 year old mummy that dresses like a cowboy and steals the souls of residents of an old folk’s home. In the end it turns out Roarke was Elvis w/amnesia the whole time.
End Spoiler!
This remake is a stupid idea. Rent the original but wait until the weekend this premieres.
Oh, wait? Iz dat tha movie that people went crazy over cuz, babygirl from tha Cosby's did a sex scene..covered in blood? Why remake dat. Anything dat pissed off Cosby should held as classic. And why tha fuck he stop makin Puddin Popz?!?
Excellent movie, especially if you don't have a single idea what you were going to watch.
Remake: Stupid idea. Why. What did the original one doesn't have that could possibly push someone to redo it without Rourke/DeNiro/Bonet? (And think he's better than Alan Parker).
