Thespian Robert De Niro is moving from one police thriller to another, though this time, he will be without a budget. After recently wrapping up work with Al Pacino on Righteous Kill, the actor is reportedly nearing a deal to co-star alongside Mel Gibson in Edge of Darkness, a film to be directed by Martin Campbell. Written by William Monahan, the drama is an adaptation of a 1985 BAFTA-winning six-hour BBC miniseries that Campbell also directed. Shooting begins this month in Massachusetts.
Plot Concept: Gibson stars as Thomas Craven, a straitlaced homicide detective for the Boston Police Dept. and single father, whose 24-year old daughter is murdered on the steps of his home. The cop assumes he was the target, but his investigation leads in another direction and uncovers his daughter's secret life, a corporate cover-up and government collusion. De Niro will play an operative sent to clean up the evidence.
Well what do you know, Mel Gibson and Robert De Niro in the same film, that's awesome and I totally look forward to this not to mention it will be nice to see Mel on the big screen again but as of late he seems to be doing better behind the camera instead of in front of it, either way this is a good match with these two actors...
Well you guys move over cause I'm coming along too. Gibson and DeNiro? how can you go wrong. It'll be cool to see Gibson kicking some ass again or at least being the lead.
Oh this should be great as long as "the fucking Jews" don't get in the way, if you know what I mean? You know what I mean, Mel? Right? !<img src ="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.tmz.com/media/2006/07/gibson_exclusive_wi_2.jpg"/>Oy!
Until Mel Gibson stops taking himself so seriously, I don't give a crap. If he does another Lethal Weapon, maybe i'll forgive him. DeNiro is great, but not a whole lot of range. Although, he did play a gay dude in Stardust.....that was funny.

So Gibson turned down "The Departed". Well Sean Connery first turned down the role of Morpheus in "The Matrix" and then Christopher Lee's role in the "LOTR" triogy. Don't get caught up in what might have been Hanso, you'll only piss yourself off.
