De Niro, Mann Reteam for FRANKIE MACHINE

Robert De Niro should know by now, having starred in some Mob-based classics, that one cannot simply retire from Mob life. Judging by the plot concept, that's exactly what his character learns in this new film. De Niro will be reteaming with director Michael Mann (Heat) for this new film called FRANKIE MACHINE, says Variety. The thespian will also be producing alongside his partner Jane Rosenthal from their Tribeca Films shingle. The trade reports that De Niro usually passes on Mob roles but he loved this story when it was bought by Paramount.

Plot Concept: The drama is an adaptation of Don Winslow novel "The Winter of Frankie Machine." De Niro will play Frank Machianno, a mob hitman who has retired to run a bait shop. He agrees to help the son of a mob boss resolve a dispute with another Mafioso but is forced to turn into Frankie Machine again when he realizes he's been set up to be killed.

DeNiro & Mann? I'm there. I'd watch DeNiro take a dump (with Mann directing said dump)

Mann & DeNiro or Mann & the Man. I'm there.

Love the concept, sounds perfect for DeNiro. It's been too long since he's gotten to play stait up brooding badass.

Sweet. I love gangster movies.
If only Pacino was in this also.

Sounds good, but the only problem is that all of Mann's movies are so slow you need a pack of No-doze just to stay awake.

I'm definitely up for this. DeNiro should never turn his back on what has for the most part made him what he is today. F*** stereotypes. This is what your fan base wants to see.
