Sci Fi Wire spoke with
DAWN OF THE DEAD remake director Zack Snyder who revealed that Universal Pictures is keen on making a sequel to his zombie apocalypse film, and with him once again behind the camera lens.
"We kicked around some ideas, but I don't know what we're going to do with it," Snyder is quoted as saying to
Sci Fi Wire. "We've talked about it. I met with James. I met with the producers. The heat comes on and off of that. I think Universal wants it bad."
The director said that his first idea was that they should do a sequel to George Romero's
DAY OF THE DEAD, the third film in Romero's zombie film series and the one that followed his original version of
DAWN OF THE DEAD. Snyder says that he pitched the concept to Universal but the movie studio wasn't interested in taking their new horror franchise in that direction. "Inadvertently we created a whole different world," Snyder said. "We went off, and in a lot of ways the rules that George created don't apply at the end of this
DAWN."
