I love the game but the save system is whack.

 The saves are bullshit. In the other games you can save exactly where you are. In this one you still will appear at what is basically an auto-save or a checkpoint and often lose what configuring you did for a new weapon or upgrades. I don't get that the "Save and Exit" only saves your inventory, not your progress.
