Viz Media is set to repackage the Death Note series for 2011 according to an article at ICv2. The publisher originally brought out the single volumes of the series several years ago and then did a Borders exclusive mega box set to hold the whole thing (something that I wish they'd do for many more series) before essentially letting the franchise languish while bringing out the live action movies. With Warner Bros. pushing forward with a US made live action movie, Viz Media is looking to get the original books out into the marketplace again in a bit more of a compact way and is intending to release the Black Edition titles starting in 2011.

Starting in February of 2011, the new Black Edition versions of the series will contain two volumes of the series in on volume withslightly oversized trade paperback sizes that will have black trim. No pricing has been given out yet nor is there an expected schedule of how long it will be between each volume.
