I went and saw the Death Note screening last night!

While it wasn't as good as the anime, I thought it was really well done.

I thought the live ction Death Note was brilliant. It fit far more of the spirit and the mythos of the anime into two hours than I would have thought possible. The composition of the shots was as evocative as the scenes in from the anime and casting was perfect. The actors playing Light and L were fantastic and far closer to source than anything I would have expected in a movie. The pacing was perfect too, kept it exciting and tense while letting the importance of the scenes and the intricacies sink in. Not a frame wasted. I can't wait to see the sequel. And the Spinoff.
