Comics and film writer, actor and all round nice guy Kevin Grevioux has inked a deal to bring his as-yet-unpublished comic 'I, Frankenstein' to the big screen. Creature creator Patrick Tatopoulos is on board to direct the movie for Death Ray Films.

The comic, created for Grevioux's Darkstorm Comics imprint, brings the classic monsters of film and lit together in a Chandler-esque detective noir tale. Frankenstein's monster, The Invisible Man, Dracula and the Hunchback of Notre Dame are among the characters.

Grevioux will write the script for the film, which he's also producing. Tatopoulos previously directed 'Underworld: Rise of the Lycans', although he also well known to fans fo F/X-driven movies like 'I Am Legend' and 'Godzilla'.

Robert Sanchez and Chris Patton will produce via Death Ray. Ryan Turek of horror Web site ShockTilYouDrop.com is co-developing for Death Ray.

Would this be his second turn behind the camera. I think  Patrick Tatopoulos direct Underworld Rise of the Lycans?

I like the sound of this. They better add the Wolfman and have the Creature of the Black Lagoon make at least a cameo. I liked all the  Underworld films and I know he had a hand in writing all of them. I'm getting flashbacks of the Abbott and Costello film with some of these monsters.

This reminds I need to get around to reading his mini he did for Marvel, Adam, The Legend of  Blue Marvel.

of course you like the sound of this wiseguy, remember last year was devoted to my promotion of the Life and Times of Igor?

hell everytime I try to get it out there, something like this happens.....

Wiseguy 4/16/2009 10:25:27 AM

Starlight you gotta make something happen. Otherwise yours will be seen as been there done that cause all these other ones keep getting made.

Didn't you mention going the comic book or graphic novel route? Maybe you should seriously explore that since now a days all film producers love nothing more than to snatch up graphic novel rights.

Kurt (from the No Fly Zone) is putting his own comic book out via an independent publisher. Maybe he can point you in the right direction. Though I think you said you already tried to get in touch with him. Anyway I think you need to make a real push. COME ON GET EXCITED DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT. I can't remewmber what movie I saw that in.

StarlightGuard 4/16/2009 10:32:48 AM

I did that...and I tried Kurt. And you also suggested that, but I could never get him to reply back to me.

Over at my blog A Satchel of Sand and Stars I promote Sweet Dreams, Igor, Summertime Blues, Unbitten, and Interesting Times.

in fact, all the agents that are reading the promotions for Sweet Dreams, are getting cards that say "follow the link to here to read about these other projects....." etc...

Doubt I can get excited, but I sure as hell can get angry....not necessarily at this guy....just at the situation....

Remember maniacs, I'm the guy who had Igor stripping while singing "I'm Too Sexy"....

StarlightGuard 4/16/2009 11:27:42 AM

you know what wiseguy?

the truly sad thing is the damage, by now, is likely irreversible...

even if I landed an agent (any agent at all) today, I'd still probably be too far behind to play catch up....these other guys could, in turn, possibly sue me for stealing their idea, and I'm already in great danger of having stolen the idea by the general, uninformed population...

I know the necessity to be "first," both in publication, on the scene, etc...the instructors I've long been familiar with have a motto: publish or perish

and you have to be the first...you have to make the discovery and be there to present it before anyone else...it's the same old race all over again

the only route I can take see these days would be one of two options: a novel (which I'm really not very good at) or a televised mini-series, which is far more possible as I have the three sections of the overall material and could do that...

Vidocide: You are correct sir! Thanks for the save.

mortellan 4/16/2009 1:54:01 PM

Huh, and I thought Millar's Kickass getting a deal after a few issues was too quick. This project isn't even published yet! But like many things in life, it's not what you know its who you know.

Flint521466 4/16/2009 1:54:17 PM

This sounds really cool.  Ryan "Rotten" Turek's involvement can only be a good thing.  However I will say that if this is done wrong it could wind up being the next "Van Helsing".

StarlightGuard 4/16/2009 3:15:29 PM

mortellan, you just summed up the last four years of my life with that simple statement of not what you know, but who you know...
