Del Toro Reveals Preference for FRANKENSTEIN

For years, director Guillermo del Toro has been eager to be behind the camera while an actor in his shot said "It's Alive! It's Alive!" for Frankenstein. Of course, with so many projects on his list of things-to-do, the Universal Pictures remake of the Mary Shelley classic keeps getting pushed back.

But that's not stopping Del Toro from brainstorming ideas in terms of his vision for the classic monster. While moving down the red carpet of Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Ryan Rotten had a chance to ask the director on who he would prefer as the creature. Surprisingly, he answered the question and it's someone he knows very well. A certain actor who has experience in make up prosthetics. Equally surprising, that actor had no clue he was being considered.

Here's what Del Toro told Ryan.

"For the monster I would love to have Doug Jones," he revealed. Jones has worked for the director as a creature performance since Mimic and plays Abe Sapien in the Hellboy films. "I think he can do a fantastic job. Ron looks seven feet tall in Hellboy, but he's not. I think we could do that with Doug, but I would love to do it with him. The only vision of the Frankenstein monster I've ever latched onto is Berni Wrightson's. He's lanky and long and it's gorgeous in a tragic way. Doug has all of those qualities."

I love old monster movies like this. But at the same time I've no desire for a new Frankenstein's Monster film. Of course if he ever makes it it'll be at least 5 years beofre we see it so I may feel differently then. I want him concentrating on The Hobbitt's films right now and nothing else.

True, I almost put that in the article above..

As in..

"How the hell does Del Toro expect to do a Frankenstein movie when he's in middle earth for the next four years?!?"

But I'll say it here below. Perhaps, he means to lead the production for Universal Pictures as an executive producer rather than a director. Whatever the case, he is really behind a Frankenstein remake. Dude's been excited about it for years and Universal has given him the project fully...to produce or to direct.

Perhaps, he'll somehow find time between The Hobbit 1 and The Hobbit 2?

I know...I know, even that's doubtful.

Well, Wiseguy, there's going to be one, apparently. The movie to (Steven?) Niles graphic novel is becoming a reality and it's a different take on the story apparently. I have no clue about how but it seems interesting. I forgot what it's called...something about "Alive" though. I can't wait. I want to see a modern take on Frakenstein; Del Toro's or not. And on another article (Shocktillyoudrop?) that mentioned this news they showed a drawing of Del Toro's vision, it belonged to another artist, of how the Frakenstein monster should look in his movie if he made it.

The two latest versions of Frakenstein I saw Deniro's and Koontz's kind of sucked. Funny, cause I love both of them. And yes, people...I know they are two seperate works. I' just saying.

I dig monster movies, but Frankenstein? Not sure about this unless the go a different route or tweak the tale a little. At this point though, you have to trust anything Del Toro has his hands in. Even The Orphanage was great entertainment.

I love monster movies too. But he has to do the Hobbit movies and then Hellboy III first and then this. When will it come out?, 2015?

Del Toro's busy, bring in Alfonso Cuaron to this. I'm starring the Alfonso Cuaron needs to direct a superhero flick chant.

Frankenstein's monster isn't a superhero.
Anyway how about we get him to do Doctor Strange since DelToro has obviously put that in the back burner, I mean behind the back burner, way behind.

I know he's not a superhero you wiseguy! I was just lettin people know I'm starring a chant.

What indeed happened to Dr. Strange? Why is it listed in IMdB but no one has any info on it?

It's too bad that he doesn't have his own production company. With all the projects he has one would think he did. As of another Frakenstein film, please don't insult us.

Development Hell, that's why there's no info on it. And IMDB, although a great resource isn't always up to date on this stuff (new stuff).
