Now that work on his dream project, HELLBOY, has kept him from directing the third BLADE film, Guillermo del Toro is talking about the horse he backed.
"The essence of the piece remains exactly the same as in the last draft," Del Toro said about his latest draft of the HELLBOY script, the first of which he began three years ado.
In a quick interview with Comics2Film, del Toro added, "We start conceptual design probably June the 10th. We're gonna have [HELLBOY creator Mike Mignola] and [Wayne] Barlow here."
Del Toro also outlined the characters fans of the demon-busting BOY can expect to seen on the big screen: water lover Abe Sapien, arsonist Liz Sherman, vampire-friendly Ilsa Hauptein, the creepy Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin, along with Hellboy's mentor Professor Bruttenholm and Dr. Tom Manning. Oh, and Kroenen.
Del Toro let it be known he's already toying with sequel ideas.
"My hope is that for a sequel, if there is one, then we can bring in some of the real B.P.R.D. members like Roger the homunculus or someone equally picturesque."
He also threw out actors he'd love to see in some of the familiar roles.
"Now that I've finished the rewrite I think definitely Spacey would be the best for that voice," Del Toro said. "I think the perfect Rasputin would be Jean Reno or Gary Oldman. The perfect professor Bruttenholm would be John Hurt."
