No Puck or CGI for Dinklage

Actor will not be a CGI Character

By Robert T. Trate     February 23, 2013

IGN had an interview with director Bryan Singer about his latest film, Jack the Giant Slayer. In that interview IGN asked about the casting of Peter Dinklage in the X-Men First Class sequel and what what character he will be playing. It is not going to be Alpha Flight’s Puck, nor will he be a CGI character.

“He’s not going to be a CGI character,” Singer corrected. “He’ll be himself. Not that he’ll be playing Peter Dinklage, he’ll be playing this character. It’s not a shy character. He’s just such a phenomenal actor; I’m a huge fan of Peter’s and Game of Thrones. He was my first choice and I was really happy [about the casting]. It’s so funny to talk to him because he does that impeccable accent [on Game of Thrones] and then you talk to him and he’s this guy from New Jersey.”

Singer also stated that he is in the process of casting yet another actor for Days of Future Past

X-Men: Days of Future Past is slated for July 18th, 2014

Dinklage has played scientists well. I'd be surprised if he didn't here

I don't know why everyone assumed he was puck. Because he's short? Puck doesn't even have anything to do with days of future past. If memory serves me didn't Tervor Fitzroy have a small guy as his companion named bantum. He was used in the 90's animated series. Anyway the character dealt with time manipulation so it could be him.

Singer really gets hung up on accents.  He was blown away by Hugh Laurie's House audition because he didn't know he was English because he used an American accent.  Yeah, Singer, it is called acting.

Singers career summed up:  Usual Suspects and X2.  And, X2 was great because of the story (which was a brilliant graphic novel by Chris Claremont.)  I think Singer needs to accept he mucked up the X waters as much as Ratner.  All the fetish leather, underused characters and horrible casting choices...on his shoulders.

I'm sorrry, Singer doesn't provide me with confidence.  I think X-Men: First Class was the best of the bunch.

shac - yes, I assumed he was going to be Puck because he's short.  Puck is short, Peter Dinklage is wonderful actor who happens to be short, and I think he would have been fantastic playing him.  And yes, Puck has nothing to do with Days of Future Past, but when has that ever stopped Fox from tossing in whatever characters they want?  Was Banshee in the first class?  Not at all.

I am wondering who he's going to play now.

Not just his height but he actually looked like him. Oh well lets see which made up character he could be. Maybe Puck's seedier unheard of brother... Muck.

I thought the same thing as I was typing caveman but at least banshee was an x-man. Puck was a character from another team entirely and had nothing to do with the story. He's not even a big player in the x-universe as a whole. But if Fox owns the entire library of x-characters they might as well make their money and throw in as many as possible. It makes sense.

From what I've seen, most rumours appear to be for Bolivar Trask.

I read same as middlerealm, Bolivar Trask the inventor of sentinnels

Doesn't Singer recognize how much talent comes out of NJ, he shouldn't sound that surprised
