Justice League Rumored Line Up

Our heroes and villains for the film

By Robert T. Trate     January 02, 2013
Source: Collider.com

Everyone and their brother is talking about the rumored line up for the Justice League movie. The list of heroes below and the main villain really come as no surprise. What will be interesting is how they, Warner Brothers, tie it all together. The best jumping off point would have been Nolan’s Batman, Christian Bale, appearing in the film. That isn’t going to happen. The gamble clearly lies with Zack Snyder’s Superman, Henry Cavill. That’s a huge gamble on Warner Brothers for the Man of Steel. Can the Man of Steel be Warner’s Iron Man? It will have to be if Warner Brothers follows the Marvel/ Disney game plan.

Superman is essentially the same character from Man of Steel, and Zack Snyder is consulting regarding the writing of the character.

Batman: The strategist of the group. Batman doesn’t really want to be involved with these super powered beings he considers too powerful. Easily the most complex written.

Wonder Woman: She has only been in man’s world a few short months. The Wonder Woman script Michael Goldenberg is developing will be set before the Justice League movie.

Green Lantern: Will be Ryan Reynold’s character from the Green Lantern movie, but will be freshly written with a more serious tone.

Flash: The most popular hero in civilian eyes who loves media attention, but when called upon is very serious.

Martian Manhunter: Alien who has lived on Earth in secret for over a hundred years who has knowledge of Darkseid and his reign.

Aquaman: Will be the King of Atlantis who has a key role in the film.

There will also be a heavy military presence in the film which in future rewrites could include characters featured in Man of Steel or even Amanda Waller (Angela Bassett) of which neither are included in the first draft.

Alfred Pennyworth is in the film in a minor appearance.

Lois Lane is also in the film in a cameo.

Darkseid’s Elite will be featured who go up against the Justice League early on in the film.

What do you think Maniacs, is this a doomed project? Who would you cast in the Justice League Movie?

This is what I'm talking about. I dig everything that's being rumored. Martian Manhunter I think will be the link from MOS to JL with a cameo, maybe a final scene ala Marvel films

I love that it's the original line up also. Something that even the Avengers didn't manage

And yeah keep GL alive and just firm up the writing. Yeah I love it when a plan comes together

I will be amazed if this goes off smoothly.  DC has a history of screwing up these movies.  "Man of Steel" will definitely be the test.  If that movie does well, and I mean "Iron Man" numbers well, then there is a chance.  It's almost like the suits at DC are saying "hey, lets take the great blueprint from Marvel, that worked, and do everything ass-backwards".

We shall see.

The same source from this claims that GL2 script is basically Sinestro Wars, well an adaptation of that.

An Aquaman film is in the works

And that Batman's new solo films will follow the JL film with the same Batman who is in his second year as the Dark Knight, no origin story.

Screw that. I want Batman in his later years. After Dick Grayson has become Nightwing. After Jason Todd has already died. Maybe we can see some Tim Drake. I feel Batman is more interesting in his later years... and we never get to see that on film!!

I just don't see there being a link between MOS & JL via a cameo, character (other than Supes) or otherwise.  I think they are just too stubborn to do it, despite that is what we all want to see.  Hope I'm wrong, but bet I'm not.

I'm glad that they have both Martain Manhunter and Aquaman.  I'm telling you, Aquaman could look spectacular on the big screen with all of the water effects and scenery.  Time for him to get some respect.  (Though I am worried that they will still screw it up.)

Please, please, PLEASE fix Green Lantern's costume this go round.  I hated that stupid CGI suit.

I agree with Wise in that I like a lot of what I am hearing.  I just have no faith they will pull it off correctly.  Maybe I'll think differently after seeing MOS.

Wiseguy 1/2/2013 10:17:07 AM

If Reynold's Green Lantern is being included doesn't that make him WB's IronMan?

And they're not exactly following Marvel's blueprint, well partially maybe. I guess that allows them to claim they didn't copy. I don't think they needed to follow Marvel anyway

I disagree that Nolan's Batman was the perfect jumping off point because Nolan made a world unsuited for the JL.

Adrianne Palicki for Wonder Woman....again

Josh Holloway for Aquaman

Shemar Moore for Martian Manhunter

Joe Manganiello for Batman

Bradley Cooper for Flash

It's a lineup I think most DC fans will thumbs-up, but the big question is how you make peace with all the recent DC films. Do you bring them into this film, or get rid of that history?

momitchell7 1/2/2013 10:29:19 AM

I don't see the reason for this total "lack of faith in DC to pull it off". The Dark Knight films have all been awesome... Superman has always been handled well (even if the last movie was slow, it was still very well produced) and I fully expect Snyder (with Nolan producing) to bring Superman to a whole new level... Green Lantern, same thing (I actually enjoyed it and so did my adult son, who loves the Green Lantern comics).

What am I missing here?

Marvel movies have certainly had their failures too - The Fantastic Four, X-Men, Daredevil, Elektra, etc...

I'm happy with Flash and Aquaman. 2 very under used characters. I doubt they'd use Nolan's Batman as he would've had to have Lucius Fox in on all the meetings to explain what was goin on to him....

Happy new yr maniacs!

By starting fresh with a whole new line of actors this movie has potential (unfortunatly keeping Ryan Reynold might not be good but still, if they at least write him off in a more serious way...or more like the FREAKING COMIC, it couldn't hurt).

At least if they introduce a new Superman, it would make sense to keep him for the JLA movie...I don't think DC is that stupid to bring in a new guy and a year later bring another new guy.

Still too early to tell anything on this one...
