Johnny Depp will star in
THE LIBERTINE, slated to begin filming next month in England. The 17th century tale is based on a play by Stephen Jeffreys, who also wrote the film's screenplay. Laurence Dunmore, best known for his work on TV commercials, will direct.
Depp will play John Wilmot who was the Earl of Rochester, who was at times a liar, thief, poet, scoundrel and socialite of English upper-crust society at that time. John Malkovich (
THE DANCER UPSTAIRS) and Samantha Morton (
MINORITY REPORT) also star in the $16 million dollar production.
