As we announced late last month, Iron Man will be hitting DVD and Blu-Ray on September 30, 2008. Well, HR is reporting some of the features to be included in the upcoming release of the summer smash hit.

Each includes a seven-part making-of documentary and a six-part feature on the origins of the Marvel superhero.

Other extras include a documentary on the film's visual effects; Robert Downey Jr.'s original screen test; deleted and extended scenes; a photo gallery of concept art; and behind-the-scenes images on the set.

The Blu-ray presentation also offers several additional extras, including a "Hall of Armor" that lets viewers zoom in on any of the three Iron Man suits, or Iron Monger, and then activate digital 3-D schematics to check out every weapon. They also can fly around each suit to explore it in great detail. Also included is a BD-Live Web application, "Iron Man IQ," that lets users create and share new multiple-choice quizzes based on clips from the film.

A single-disc "Iron Man" DVD also will be issued, with just the movie and the deleted and extended scenes.

Iron Man has grossed $315.9 million domestically and another $251.7 million in foreign sales since opening up on May 2, 2008. This has the film ranked 22nd on the All-Time Blockbuster list and 2nd for the year of 2008 behind The Dark Knight's $410.7 mil tally. Iron Man 2 will be hitting theaters April 30, 2010.

Any commentary? I would really enjoy some RDJ/Favreau commentary.

Yeah, you said it Whiskey and I too would really enjoy some RDJ/Favreau commentary. Favreau is a funny dude. I used to always watch that show he had on, Dinner for Five. The stories he and the guests told were pretty funny.

The two of them together would be hilarious.
I can't wait for this to come out. It was my favorite movie of the summer, sorry to all those who liked TDK better, but I was a huge IM fan as a kid and so I hope I'm forgiven.

IM is way better than Joker rehashed.

This might be my first Blu-Ray for IM.

I've been looking forward to getting Iron Man on DVD since I saw the film.

But, I'm still disappointed that with each new release, the extras on DVD's are getting thinner and thinner. I also wonder how long it will be before all extras are only available on a Blu Ray release, rather than DVD, as a means of pushing the format.
