An Anonymous Source inside the production of INDIANA JONES IV shot us an email today detailing some of the New Haven shoots that occurred last week. As many of you saw, there was a few photos of a stunt driver on the motorcycle "looking" like Shia LaBeouf's character. It's already been said from Shia a few weeks ago in Entertainment Weekly that he won't be getting stuntmen to do his scenes. He'll try to do them himself during the production of INDIANA JONES.

So why was there a stunt driver during that one scene that made its way online last week?

Well, Shia had a "little" trouble working the 50's style motorcycle.

Here's the details that an Annonymous Source inside the production sent to us:

Shooting just wrapped in New Haven, Connecticut on the seventh and has moved to Hawaii as recently as a day ago.  Reports also indicate that the shooting is going fabulously well and that no problems have been encountered.  Shia and Harrison are getting along very well, which is important because they'll be in a lot of scenes together.  I'm not in a position to confirm or dis-confirm anything about Shia's role in the film, but I can say that the familiarity required for them to ride on a motorcycle together should tell you something.

[This tidbit below was in reference to the shots of Shia on the motorcycle with Harrison.]

...Spielberg is a big fan of playing practical jokes on his new actors. In this particular scenario, Shia had undergone several weeks of motorcycle training, but was having difficulty shifting the bike into second gear for this scene.? Spielberg continually called 'cut' as Shia tried to compose himself, but he wasn't able to shift properly. The stunt man was called into do it and did it perfectly. Finally, after 13 takes, the crew broke out laughing. It was just a joke, and Shia handled it like a professional.

13 Takes? No wonder they had a good laugh about it. It seems that Shia handled it well and took it in stride.

I still really dislike that photo of Indy on the back of the motorbike. It's just so wrong! The dude once took out an entire Nazi convoy just to get into the driver's seat, and now he's riding bitch? Sigh...

Can't wait for Indy, but why is the Fonze riding a motorbike with Jimmy Carter on the back of it.
TheSleeper 7/10/2007 7:54:38 PM
Actually, it's not Carter, it's Brezhnev.

The guy is older now, Sleeper, but I'm sure it will be used well for comic relief. He's not going to be the same Indy now. Age will do that, but I bet he'll die trying and that's what we love about him. He gets his ass kicked and just keeps coming back for more. In my mind there is no better character in any movie. I have faith he'll still kick butt.

I hope they have a scene eating at Arnold's and Weezer is playing. Then Mork will show up with Lavernie & Shirley. That would be sweet. Actually, that would suck......I think this is gonna rock. Indy is the balls ( even if his are now down to his knees). This will be a first class ride.

almostunbiased...My thoughts exactly...

#4- Well, the first real trailer will give us a better idea of what we're dealing with. But I just don't have much faith in Lucas anymore, and I don't know that even Spielberg can keep him from Jar-Jar-ing up the movie...

It is true that Lucas was not around that much during the shooting of Raiders but I have a feeling he has allot of time on his hands and is shoving his nose into this production more than might be necessary...Of course if that is the case we might seeing more CGI than we were originally told by Spielberg...I still have High hopes for this movie and trust Speilberg more than any other director...
Captmathman 7/11/2007 8:47:37 AM
I have high hopes as well, but what I'm seeing so far isn't getting me excited. Nervous would be a better word...

Ahhhh, nothing yet detracts me from wanting to see this film. Indy on the back of a bike...big deal. I just hope the storylines remain secret and are not leaked. I'm looking forward to a good Indy popcorn flick. I'm a little confused though of all the Shia haters. What is up with that? I'm kind of glad this type of forum didn't exist back in the day...when they made the original Star Wars and Indy movies.
