The DEVIL MAY CRY at the movies

Video game rights get sold

The company that scored the movie rights to Capcom's ONIMUSHA video game have picked up another property from the game developer: DEVIL MAY CRY. Japanese film distributor Gaga Communications wants to turn the dark fantasy/horror action game into a $40 million dollar picture, to come out as early as 2006.

The Capcom game has spawned a sequel (released earlier this year) and is one of the more popular titles for the Sony PlayStation 2. Part John Woo action, part dark fantasy, the game follows the adventures of an anti-hero named Dante who faces off against sadistic and demonic opponents. Dante must stop the Devil Emperor from escaping his prison and enslaving the world.
