In an exclusive interview with CINESCAPE magazine, STARGATE co-creator Dean Devlin talked about his wishes to still make the second and third films in the big screen trilogy.
Unfortunately for fans of the STARGATE film, in 1994 Devlin and collaborator Roland Emmerich had a trilogy of STARGATE films already planned when MGM decided to make the first film, then the TV show, STARGATE SG-1. The corporate move (though we like the show guys) caused a riff between Devlin/Emmerich and MGM, and the two further films are now in limbo.
With the news of a special edition of the STARGATE film is coming to DVD this fall, we asked Devlin what his hopes were for the rest of the trilogy.
"Tell all the fans to write to MGM," Devlin told us. "I'm ready to make part two and three anytime. I have the stories. It's all worked out. The actors want to do it. We just need MGM to say yes. Write, call, get on their website, get them to do it and I'll be the first one in line to do it."
