Dexter Season 8: Next on Episode 1

Preview of the Premiere

By Robert T. Trate     June 24, 2013

Showtime has posted the new Season 8 premiere trailer for Dexter. Six months have passed since LaGuerta's death and Dexter believes that all his problems may be solved.

Mania will be bringing you reviews of the final season every week. The 8th season premiere is this Sunday, only on Showtime.

While I'm sad the series is ending, I'm glad it's getting to go out on it's own.  That seems to be a trend these days with long running shows that I'm happy to see.

My wife and I got into the series late.  We watched seasons 1-6 in the months leading up to the season 7 premier.  Once we got past the first episode, we didn't want to stop.  We had watched the pilot about a year ago and just couldn't get into it.  Friends told us to go back and keep watching and I'm so glad we did.  The letdown is that we watched 7 seasons in 4 months just to have the 8th be the last.  I hope it goes out big.  Just wondering how the end will come.

This show has remained awesome. I'm just glad they didn't go down the path that book 3 of the series went. I was so disenchanted with the new direction that I stopped reading the books. Ruined it for me. I'm glad they've stayed consistent on the show.

@fft - Just goint to put a book spoiler just in case.  Don't want anyone complaining I ruined the book for them.

Are you referencing the fact that his dark passenger is a demon and he faced off against a an evil God Moloch?  Yeah, that was wierd.  But I kept reading.  The latest book is sitting on my bookshelf with a bunch of other novels, waiting to be read.

Yep. That's what I was talking about. I was purposely remaining vague so as not to spoil. That whole direction was BS for me. Ruined a great series. Unless book 4 comes out and says that the whole Moloch thing was a crock, I'm done with the series.

Well there are six books out now with another coming out this year sometime.  I've read up to book 5 and I remember still enjoying them even after book 3's odd revelations.  I don't remember the books dwelling too much upon the events of book 3.  But it's been a while since I read them.  I'd suggest checking out 4 and seeing if you still like them.  I still enjoy them.

The last season of Dexter I liked was the one where John Lithgow played the Trinity Killer.

I'm hoping the series ends this season and ends well (not like Lost or the Sopranos).

I'm liking AMC's The Killing (also in the 9 PM Sunday evening time slot). Mania has decided to avoid the show despite the fact that it stars Joel Kinnaman (Robocop 2014) and Mireille Enos (World War Z).  It's probably a little too real for Mania who prefer fantasy serial killers like Dexter.
