George A. Romero's DIARY OF THE DEAD doesn't hit theaters until sometime in 2008 but that's not stopping them from greenlighting a direct sequel. The zombie master, through his production company Romero-Grunwald Prods., are teaming up once again with Artfire Films by setting a production date next spring for a direct sequel, says the Hollywood Reporter. The latest fim, Diary, opened up in the Toronto International Film Festival to positive reviews and has since been picked up by the Weinstein Co. for distribution rights in North America and Mexico.

Plot Concept for the Diary sequel: Fighting their way out of a mansion through a horde of ravenous zombies, the survivors of "Diary" escape to a remote island only to be plunged into another battle with the dead.

Anyone hear anything on he film adaptation of "World War Z"? That's the one zombie flick I'd be interested in seeing.

I'll watch it for sure. It would be interesting if all his films were based in the same universe.

By direct do they mean direct to video?

I will of course see this as it will undoubtedly be really interesting, but after Land of the Dead the old school stumbling zombies just don't do it for me anymore.

Wow. That's some steady zombie related work from the man who invented the modern-day zombie! Very nice. Hope these are good.
Does this mean no Dead Reckoning? What happened to the zombie rock band? Think that was Diamond Dead or some such.
