Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way will develop and produce a feature film adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut's CAT'S CRADLE. James V. Hart and Jake Hart, his son, will adapt.

The story is an apocalyptic tale about the planet's ultimate fate and a race to recover the world's most dangerous substance, Ice-Nine, a new form of ice that freezes at room temperature.

Has anyone read this book? Was it a good story or not?

... all I know is that 'Ice Nine' is a killer Joe Satriani song.

Here's a radical idea, jwesty. Run to your local bookstore, buy a copy, read it, and decide for yourself!

Pick a fight elsewhere and, while you're at it, get a hug from your Dad.

jwesty- Pick a fight?!?!?! No. I was merely suggesting that instead of relying on the opinions of others, that perhaps you should form one of your own.

I liked that book a lot, and think it could be a great film, properly handled. Since you are not me, you might read it and find it utter tripe. One man's trash is another's treasure, etc. There are plenty who think Jim Carrey is a brilliant actor, while I would rather have my fingernails slowly extracted with rusty tweezers than ever have to watch him again. See what I mean? It's all relative.

So while you gamely suggest I was picking a fight, I was not. I am just pointing out that YOU are the only one who can decide whether the story is any good or not TO YOU, since we all have different perception.

Now relax, eh? Maybe you can read the book while you are at it.

'...I would rather have my fingernails slowly extracted with rusty tweezers...'

That can be arranged, for insulting a fellow Canadian. :P

Of course, I'd rather watch Jim Carrey...then have to put up watching Leotard DeCapitated!

Dude, Wyldbil, you're in denial. Re-read both your posts, they both have an attacking tone. If a person can't ask a simple question to get a conversation going, without being belittled, then it's not worth posting.

You finally answered my question in your last reply and your answer was...

"I liked that book a lot, and think it could be a great film, properly handled."

How hard would that have been to have said in the first place and why didn't you just say it to begin with? Let me answer those two questions for you, so we don't have to carry on this conversation anymore. Those answers are "Not hard at all" and "because I wanted to be a**!"

You're the one who needs to relax. Now go get that hug you so desperately need.

Cat's Cradle having not to do with cats but with Ice. Uh... ok? The title, to me, reminds me of the horror film genre a la "Hand That Rocks The Cradle" and "Cat People."

Anyway, there's investors backing this, must be something that catches their eye. I'll watch for updates as always.

jwesty, I think you owe wyldbil an apology... I saw nothing at all attacking about the tone of his posts. You started the attacking with your "Pick a fight elsewhere and, while you're at it, get a hug from your Dad." comment. I think you're just peeved because his initial response wasn't the sort of pablum you were expecting.
