Dialogue will be interesting.   How many ways are there to say, "I  am Groot!"

Ah Vin needs a gravy role every once in awhile.  He does not have to be the heavy in every movie.  I know it's talking trees and racoons but it can still be serious if story is right.  I am hoping.  I hope they do the talking dog myself for sequel.  He was a bad ass Russian Dog cosmonaut that got telepathy powers in space, forgot how, probably those darn comic rays.  He was a fun character.  Playing like a real dog then getting serious when his station (head of a dead Celestrial) was under attack by this and that.  He also had to tone his urges down for dealing with Rocket R since natural enemies.  Funny stuff.  And then he's a cute doggie...

Thank god he is just doing voice work.  I really can't stand this guy and have no idea what is the appeal of F&F films.

Dazzler...have you ever seen one of the director's films?  They are low brow fun, but don't expect at  serious take on a talking racoon and tree.  I think they have been pretty clear that this is all tounge in cheek.  Vin...I hate to be rude, but he just seems like a dumb ass.  He mumbles his lines and is about as entertaining to  watch as a tree grow...um, wait.

Unfortunately, I think "tongue in cheek" will blow this films chances of success. Although the concept of Groot and Rocket Raccoon sound only feasible in a comedy, the Guardians of the Galaxy is a very serious (aside from the playful banter during battle) comic which has enjoyed a lot of success, and was one of Marvel's most intriguing series (I stopped collecting like 4 years ago so I can't weigh in on the stories since), but the Annihilation saga featuring the Guardians of the Galaxy was AMAZING. So, was their initial series. Wow. Good stuff. If they play this as hijinks and slapstick It. Will. Fail.

An entirely CGI character with a three word vocabulary.... Easiest paycheck EVER!

For those unfamiliar with Groot outside the Guardians (or unfamiliar with him at all) Groot is one of Marvels oldest characters, having first appeared in late 1960, a couple years before Spiderman and the Fantastic Four.  He came to Earth to do what giant tree monsters from outer space do (go all rampagy), the Army couldn't stop him but some scientists put an end to his assault by throwing termites on him (hey, it was 1960 writing!).  He showed up a couple times after that, fought the Hulk once, before going back home.  When the modern Guardians were formed he got revamped and put with them.  Groot is actually one of his peoples most gifted scientists and philosophers, it's just with his plant-like physical nature all he can say is "I AM GROOT".  Human hearing lacks the subtlety to understand the nuances of his language.  It's like Wookie, what we hear as growls and barks (or in this case "I am groot") is actually all manner of subjects.
