The DOOM movie has a new director.

CRADLE 2 THE GRAVE helmer Andrzej Bartkowiak has stepped up to helm the Universal Pictures film adaptation of the id Software first-person shooter video game. Bartkowiak, who rose up in the ranks as a director of cinematography before directing such action films as EXIT WOUNDS and ROMERO MUST DIE, replaces Enda McCallion who is departing the director's chair due to unspecified personal reasons.

DOOM will star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as a futuristic space marine that is mankind's only hope to stop an invading force of demons straight from Hell. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and John Wells are the producers. The movie plans to begin shooting in October.
