30 DAYS OF NIGHT creator Steve Niles continues to sell new projects to Hollywood. His latest sale is for his update on the Frankenstein's Monster tale titled WAKE THE DEAD published by IDW Publishing. The five-part mini-series debuts in stores next month.
Dimension Films nabbed the screen rights for WAKE THE DEAD. The deal includes granting executive producer credits to Niles and IDW Publishing President Ted Adams. The project came to Dimension after studio execs Michael Zoumas and Narges Takesh spotted the comic at last month's San Diego Comic-Con International. The duo then took the property back to their studio and a deal was cut with Niles. Dimension also gets first refusal on the film rights to REMAINS, Niles next horror comic book, due out next year.
The first project of Niles that attracted the attention of Hollywood, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, is set up at Sony with SPIDER-MAN director Sam Raimi serving as one of the producers. The film rights to CRIMINAL MACABRE, Niles new horror mini-series, sold to MGM this past June.
