According to a recent interview with MTV, Dino de Laurentiis said he would like to make more films about Hannibal Lecter.

"I presume that we created a success with this new franchise about young Hannibal Lecter, and I want to start to think about going ahead with the story," de Laurentiis said.

De Laurentiis also added that future stories would likely center on the relationship between Lecter and his love interest, Gong Li.

"You see in the movie that ... it's an attraction, but nothing serious happens. In the future, maybe something happens, if we go with [another sequel]."

Karl, come on.. you KNOW I've defended your "KJ's take" before but if you arent interested, dont feel obligated to contribute a KJ's Take. By the way, Laurentiis is the producer, not the young actor. Gaspard Ulliel plays Hannibal Lecter and is not even mentioned in this article. Aaron Thomas plays young Hannibal Lecter. I do love Laurentiis' quote "In the Future maybe something happens, if we go with another sequel" Gee Dino, I hope so.... LOL! thats an awesome quote!!

Dino de laurentis for me mean s Dune !!! The biggest lost of all time ! Don t get me wrong the movie was good, maybe even a classic, but back to his time, big drop ! Going back to hannibal, they will simply kill the character, too much is too much....

I was tired, and apparently confused. Thanks for the heads up ... not sure why the hell I got that mixed up. In any event, seeing as I really don't have anything to add, for one time only you get NO KJ's Take! Enjoy it while it lasts!

I think Hannibal has eaten up enough screen time. I don't care to see any more of these. Let's have something new to chew on. By the way was Dino DeLaurentis a part of making Dune? I didn't know that. Let's go with more Dune movies that would be cool.

I hope to god that the movie is better than the book. I've been trying to read Hannibal Rising for over a week, but have had to put it down repeatedly because the sloppy writing annoyed me. I loved Red Dragon and Silence, and I even thought Hannibal was well written (if a little too ugly in its narrative). Hannibal Rising, though, is painful. Now, sometimes you can make a better movie from a bad book, so best of luck to Dino. But, for me, I think Hannibal has had enough story told. He's one of the ultimate villians, and they're trying to make him into a hero. Bad move.

lochkray...Is Hannibal Rising really that bad? I haven't started reading yet, but I'm worried because I agree with you about the other books. What's "sloppy" about it? I'm reading Epicenter by Joel Rosenberg (if current events in the Middle East interest and trouble you, read this book!) and planned on reading Rising next. Now I'm worried I won't enjoy it! Anyone else out there have anything to add on the book? As for more films? Hannibal's mystique is gone for me now, and i don't find the character all that interesting anymore. He's become too sympatheitc of a character which isn't interesting. He's not scary like he was in Silence of the Lambs. woodwraith...Dino's company produced the original Dune movie and there were many battles with the Director David Lynch that led Lynch to take his name off the film. I'd have to disagree with exfan about Dune, because I thought it was such a disappointment. SciFi made a very good miniseries a couple of years ago that was pretty good. Dune is such a rich and complex story that I don't think a movie could ever do the source material justice.

When I hear "Dino de Laurentiis" the first thing I think of is his 1976 King Kong remake fiasco. I like the Hannibal movies so far (obviously I haven't seen the prequel one yet), but I think they are going to the well too often. The franchise is already precariously close to becoming another Freddy or Jason series.

Agreed, snally. They should have stopped with Red Dragon. That kicked ass. Hannibal was ok. The book was better, but even that wasn't as good the first two books. Haven't read Hannibal Rising, and don't really care to. I think Hannibal Lecter is definitely a case of less-is-more. We don't *need* to find out what makes him the way he is. He's scarier if we don't know.

Hold on: Does anyone remember how bad was the ending of Hannibal movie? If you read the book, you'll give me the reason: the kid NEVER eats the brain and that final scene was at the middle of the book, not at the end. Plus, Clarice stays with Hannibal and they go to Sao Paulo, not the stupid ending de Laurentis give to the movie, where Clarice ends as a mediocre agent... so, I don't think give another sequel is a good idea... from where will start, from the Laurentis's stupid ending or Thomas great finale? Far, far different.

Hannibal the book was ass awful!!! ~~~~~SPOILERS~~~~~ Seriously, Starling and Hannibal as a couple? Such a bad idea. they always had this father/daughter dynamic, not to mention the VAST age difference, and between those 2 issues I was left wanting a shower. I am quite glad that Ridley Scott had the where-with-all to kick that bullshizz out of the adaptation. Red Dragon was cool, though...A return to form, imo.
