No Dinobots in TRANSFORMERS 2

Director Michael Bay has given two updates to report on Transformers 2. In the first, Bay told the Sanchez clan over at IESB that his script outline calls for no Dinobots appearing anywhere in the upcoming sequel. The second update is the director telling Rotten Tomatoes that the story outline in question is complete even if the WGA strike officially ended today. As with most directors, he completed the rough outline and will now hand it over to the screenwriters to work their magic.

"I've been writing Transformers 2," said Bay. "We've got our characters all designed. I always write all my scripts, my movies anyway so at least I've got something to give the writers. It's like a template. We have a really good outline so I worked on that." It might be a tad unorthodox, but Bay has high pressure demands. "We had to because I want to make my date. I'm not going to let the strike take me down."

Transformers 2 will hit theaters June 26, 2009.

NO dinobots, sounds good to me...

Well, this is a shock. I would figure that a palm greaser like Bay would have opted to have the dinosaur/transformer angle. Just think of the insane amounts of money the dinobots would have made for him. I guess there isn't a corportion out there willing to slap their name on the dinobots. It's shame too, it would have been cool to see a 2 hour dinobot commercial.
I would have liked to see some kind of incarnation of the dinobots, with Grimlock, Swoop and all the rest. Does this open the door for the Galvatron? Omega Supreme vs. Devastator? Sector 7 making the Stuntacons? This flick will make tons of money either way. Here's hoping it's "better" than the first.

good don't ruin my simple minded dino buddies, like they did with bumble bee. but i have theory why no dinos, no sponsor money like they got from gm for the first one. worst thing about that movie was the whole sector 7 bs taking down bumble bee it was just effen remedial.

I will never understand the Bay haters. He makes awesome action movies. He gets epic shots and can film the destruction of cars and other things like no one else can. I for one am a 100% Bay fan. He delivers just what I want......awesome action movies that let me escape for a few hours.......as far as Transformers is concerned....I thought it had its flaws, but over-all, it was very good. I mean, it's a movie based on giant alien robots,,,,what more do you want? And if a movie based on a cartoon and kids toy "ruins" your childhood memeories because you didn't like the movie,,,,,,well, that is actually pretty sad. I am looking forward to the sequal very much,,,,,give us bigger explosions Bay,,,,bigger!!

I don`t have too much of a problem with Bay. They are all pretty damn entertaining and full of awesome action sequences. He isn`t much for story but if I don`t expect that from him. He`s just not that guy. I think having the Dinobots in the movie would have been a mistake, so I`m happy they aren`t in it.

Dinobots were made on the cartoon as an experiment Wheeljack did after finding some dinosaur fossils in their mountain/ship base and being fascinated by them and their brute size and strength. That is why they were dumb. They were made to immulate the small brains of dinosaurs. But, he made them armored and powerful.

In the movies, Ratchet is not the experimental one (just medical officer) so there is no one to make the Dinobots in the first place (he helped Wheeljack but was not the scientist, just the assistant).

Not to mention the fact that if a protoform showed up and disguised himself as a dinosaur, they would then have to explain why he was so damn dumb to do such a thing. When could he ever hide? Not as a robot or a dinosaur... so that blows the robots in disguise concept out the water real fast. So I support his decision even though it would be cool to see.

Good we don't need them at this point. THey weren't introduced right away in the cartoon anyway.

Just bring in the regular autobots and decepticons to battle it out. Soundwave - WheelJack - ect ect

Transformers 2 will still kick massive amounts of ass without Dinobots in the movie. I personally am glad they won't be included because I don't think they would've worked either. Give me Soundwave, LOTS more Starscream, Omega Supreme, Metroplex vs. Trypticon, and just for good measure throw in Unicron to reform Megatron into Galvatron.

I actually read on IMDB a while back that Unicron was originally planned to appear in Transformers but was scrapped and set to appear in the sequel. I would love to have James Earl Jones voice him if that were to happen.

Me, Grimlock, not "nice dino." ME BASH BRAINS.

Me, Grimlock, love Kup's war stories.

I agree with Whiskeymovie. Bay produces action movies, its what he does. It's not supposed to big on story its big on explosions. That's fine if I want something more educated and refined I'll go somewhere else. If I want to see something get blown up (and who doesn't from time to time) I've got no trouble watching Bay's movies. As for Transformers I also agree with Whiskeymovie. It seems like everyone was expecting some kind in depth, earth shattering, groundbreaking achievement in film. Transformers is not Citizen Kane, its based on a cartoon, which was based on a series of action figures. Give it a break and enjoy the giant robots beating the crap out of each other.
