Welcome back! Hope you had a great holiday. As of today CINESCAPE online resumes our regular publication schedule. However, there were some stories that we found interesting, while we were eating our holiday candy, and it's our pleasure to pass some along to you.

For best effect, read the ellipses below (the three dots) like this: "di - di - di", in a high pitched mechanical tone, emulating the sound of an old-school newswire radio broadcast. Wearing a fedora and holding your ear is optional.

...THE ORANGE COUNTRY REGISTER reports that Disney has developed free-range animatronic dinosaurs for deployment in their parks. Hey, didn't I see a movie about this once? ... William Shatner to make record with Ben Fold. Yes, THAT Ben Folds. No news on a fresh interpretation of LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS ... DVDFILE.COM reports that the recently-issued BACK TO THE FUTURE DVD triple set is subject to recall over a miscropping in the widescreen edition call (888) 703-0010 to request an exchange. There's some sort of joke here about the future and the past of consumer products, but we'll leave you to make it to yourselves in the privacy of your own home ... Both LA Weekly and Publisher's Weekly ran year-end specials focusing on comics and graphic novels, primarily because of astounding growth in the bookstore market for graphic novels and manga in 2002. No joke ... NEWS.COM.AU reports a previously unknown book by J.R.R. Tolkien was discovered in an Oxford library by a U.S. academic. The book, a translation of BEOWULF with commentary, may see print in 2003. And you thought he just made all that stuff up ... More to come in part two. Thanks for tuning in, and keep watching the skies!
