A director boards the DEMETER

German helmer to work on Dracula spin-off

German born director Robert Schwentke is now attached to helm THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER, the DRACULA inspired spin-off (sidequel?) project at Mike Medavoy's Phoenix Pictures. The premise of DEMETER is quite cool, that being the full story behind the doomed sailing vessel that carried Count Dracula from Europe to the shores of England. In Bram Stoker's novel the ill-fated voyage of the Demeter was barely mentioned, but in Bragi Schut spec screenplay the story was expanded in full.

Schwentke and his writing partner Mitch Brian will begin to rewrite Schut's script to fit their vision of the project.
