Though New Line and Marvel Studios announced last November that Nick Cassavetes would direct the big screen adaptation of IRON MAN, apparently the deal was not officially set. He is still involved with the film and is currently "working on a rewrite of the script by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, and David Hayter." But he is not set at the director.

Since casting has not taken place then the picture is now scheduled to hit theaters sometime in 2007.

Marvel has stated they want Cassavetes to direct the film but New Line is holding back still on committing.

Cassavetes would be cool. GLORIA (not the crappy remake with Sharon Stone) is one of my favorite movies of all time. He would definitely bring the human element and action to this movie.

'Gloria' was directed by Nick's father, John Cassavetes, a legendary director. Nick's credits are a bit less auspicious: "She's So Lovely", "John Q", and "The Notebook".

Gloria--was that about the Laura Brannigan hit song? Ghost Rider was due in 2001 as was Iron Fist. And Tom Cruise was hooked to Iron Man in 98 so dont be surprised be patient. But then again taking time for more Star Wars flicks did hurt.

I'd rather see a 'War Machine' movie.

Avi Arad said in one of his interviews that he would rather see either Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom to be Iron Man. Depp is the first choice and Bloom if this movie would be available around 2010.
