IGN FilmForce nailed the news first that THE NOTEBOOK director Nick Cassavetes had landed the job to helm New Line Cinema's IRON MAN movie. The son of actors John Cassavetes and Gena
Rowlands, Cassavetes also directed JOHN Q. for the studio and is currently working on the Bruce Willis film ALPHA DOG for New Line as well. Other credits include SHE'S SO LOVELY and UNHOOK THE STARS.
Mere hours after FilmForce broke the story it was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.
IRON MAN, based on the Marvel Comics property of the same name, was written by X-MEN screenwriter David Hayter and will be produced by Don Murphy. It's tentatively scheduled for opening in summer 2006. The Reporter added that Cassavetes will perform a polish to Hayter's script.
