It's been quite some time since we heard anything at all about Touchstone's long developing NATIONAL TREASURE, but now the film has a director. Jon Turteltaub (DISNEY'S THE KID, INSTINCT) is now attached to helm the project and is said to be planning on making it his next film.
TREASURE, which will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Christina Steinberg and Turteltaub, is a caper film about the search for a hidden treasure trove long buried by our the United States founders as a back-up just in case they ran out of money battling with the British. The means of finding the treasure is said to be buried within the words of the Constitution.
The Touchstone project is likely to ramp up production in March.
