Director Sharpens Blade for "Saw 2"

Darren Lynn Bousman has been hired by Twisted Pictures and Lions Gate Films to direct "Saw 2." Bousman wrote the script for "Saw 2," which he developed with Leigh Whannel, writer and co-star of the original pic, and James Wan, the original director.

Principal photography is set to begin May 2 in Toronto and the plan is to have the film ready for a Halloween release.

Feh. Any time a movie gets a little notoriety or makes a few bucks, they start up the money-making machine and churn out a sequel. Doesn't matter how innovative the original was... doesn't matter if the original didn't even LEAVE room for a sequel, Hollywood always has to start up the Machine. And roughly 90% of those sequels aren't worth the time it took to write 'em.
