Cleaning laundry is obviously a dirty business but more so when you add your own dirtiness to all of it.
What They Say
Everyone's got to have their clothes washed at some point, and it's a good thing there's a reliable laundry place in the area with door-to-door service. The ladies who take advantage of this convenience find that blouses and skirts aren't the only things that get wrung out by the eager employee on call. Every pickup and drop off seems to lead to a nooner that easily satisfies both customer and clerk alike. But can our intrepid launderer make a clean getaway after every dirty deed?
The bilingual presentation for Dirty Laundry is pretty standard fare for Kitty Media with a pair of stereo tracks encoded at 192kbps. Like most adult shows, the mix doesn't have all that much to it as it's all dialogue and groaning based which plays out well but doesn't feature much in the way of directionality or placement. It has a good solid full sound to it that conveys the dialogue and grunting well while the ambient effects and the minor music that pops up from time to time give it a bit more oomph, but not much. This is a pretty much average presentation but one that's good in that it's free of problems and the dialogue comes across clean and clear.
Originally released in 2007, the transfer for this show is presented in its original full frame aspect ratio. Even with an adult release, it still feels like a surprise that a show from 2007 would be full frame. That said, Dirty Laundry is a really great looking show with very good animation and character designs that shine beautifully. The colors are very vibrant and lush while the skin tones which are pretty varied come across very solid. There's some mild noise in a few scenes but by and large everything is very clean and solid here. Line noise is hardly noticeable at all and cross coloration is non-existent. With it being a recent show and having quality source materials, this is a great looking presentation.
Dirty Laundry is appealing right from the start with Sayaka outside with some of her laundry hanging on the line with the bright blue sky behind her as well as a few trees. Of course, the really appealing part is Sayaka herself with her wet and see through outfit on, what little there is, with the Dirty Laundry logo hanging in front of her on a line. The character artwork is really appealing here with the design, costumes and the colors of it all. The back cover carries over the sky with a bit of the trees but there's a lot of blue space over which we get the summary of the show along with a few pictures with clothespin holding them up below it. There's also another large shot of Sayaka in the same kind of clothes, though not wet, which is really appealing. The rest is given over to the usual production credits and the technical grid that covers everything in a clean and accurate form. No show related inserts are included nor is there a reversible cover.
The menu for this release follows the standard Kitty model of adapting elements from the cover and using it here. This means some of the character artwork from the cover that looks even more vibrant and enticing than it does on the cover. The menu has the usual basics for navigation along with some basic music playing along to set the mood. The layout is quick and easy to navigate as it's a no frills piece that works effectively and loads without problem. The disc doesn't read our players' language presets though and defaults to English language with the slates subtitles.

One of the appealing things about hentai more often than not is that a lot of the shows do try to introduce a fair amount of story to things. Dirty Laundry has one but feels like a bit of a throwback as it's kept simple so that the majority of it can focus on the fun between the characters. A lot of this has the sense of what old live action adult films were like in the 80's where there's the simple premise that holds it all together, though there is an amusing moment at the end that seems to be popular among a lot of adult anime shows these days.
The premise of Dirty Laundry involves a small laundry company called Asagai Laundry which does decent business where it is but it's not doing as well as it could. The small business is run by Sayaka, a woman who lost her husband six years earlier and is still in mourning over it. The only employee of the company is a young man named Shin who handles the deliveries and pickups for the customers they do have. Shin's a good looking clean cut young man who certainly likes his boss. Sayaka's definitely attractive enough but she's a bit downcast in general as she laments the loss of her husband while still having needs that aren't being dealt with.
While it's not the best job in the world, Shin certainly loves it as several of the women he frequents definitely like his company. And not the business kind of company. Shin spends quality time with several women across the two episodes here, such as the beautiful slightly older woman Masayo to the foreign woman Mari who has come to Japan with her Japanese husband. Mari has the harder time of the women involved because she's unfamiliar with much of how Japan works but she's very up front about her desires and Shin – along with some fun toys – happily obliges here. Masayo's no slouch herself as she kicks off the show with a really good scene that complements her design and attitude.
There's some natural tension between Shin and Sayaka as well and that plays out very well when Shin finds her enjoying herself while holding onto one of his shirts. This leads to them taking things to the next level but there's a lot of conflict in there for her since she's still got very strong memories of her husband and can't help but feel that this is a betrayal. One of the less enjoyable scenes of the show involves the introduction of a woman named Yuko who runs a big chain of laundry shops that's about to setup in the area to compete against Sayaka's. Yuko tries to take advantage of coming across Shin one day but he catches on to her plan and tries to turn the tables on her. Yuko's appealing from her design but her character and Shin taking her (somewhat) against her will just didn't fly well.
When it comes to the visual design for Dirty Laundry, I'm completely in love. These kinds of designs for the characters are very appealing as they've got curves and move in ways that look right. There are times when the chest sizes get a bit larger than you'd care for, but it's the kind of exaggeration that isn't a surprise. Masayo starts it off right with a very curvy feel while Mari adds a great “exotic” flair to it. Sayaka has the hallmarks of a lot of what passes for normal in hentai shows with some added curves and Shin has a solid look as well. What continues to be appealing is that these characters aren't all angular, such as sharp faces or whisper thin waists. They're certainly not “real” in that classic sense, but they have more weight and presence to them than most women do in these shows. The curved faces are very reminiscent of older shows as well which is a big plus.
Dirty Laundry was a heck of a lot more fun than I expected it to be and far more titillating than a lot of hentai I've had the pleasure to see recently. The story is thin to be sure, but it ties everything together well and offers some fun sequences. Whether Shin's spanking out the women like blankets over the railing or engaging in some near-public fun in the delivery van, the situations are well animated, well choreographed and play out strongly. The animation is definitely above average with the character designs and outside of one scene that's somewhat non-consensual it's spot on. This title left me quite happy at the end, though amused with how it does close things out when all the women come together.
