With its announcement of a sprawling epic period-piece, i.e. THE TROJAN WAR, Warner Bros. put in doubt another of it's long rumored projects: the much fabled BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN film.
It seems Wolfgang Petersen and Brad Pitt are looking to work on the GLADIATOR-style battle epic, which means Petersen may no longer have the time or inclination to bring the William Wisher (T2, JUDGE DREDD) penned uber-buddy pic to the big screen.
In recent years, there have been several big screen versions of both BATMAN and SUPERMAN movies in various stages of development, but when Petersen seemed to sign onto this fanboy fantasy, interest perked up. In related confusion, this news also puts into question Pitt's involvement with the hotly-teased Darren Aronofsky science fiction project, THE LAST MAN.
