Disney and Bruckheimer Part Ways

End of Era

By Robert T. Trate     September 20, 2013
Source: Variety

It is the end of era for Walt Disney Studios. Variety has broken the story that Walt Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer will not renew their partnership. Why? I’m sure a lack luster Lone Ranger film had nothing to do with this. No, it probably has to do with Disney acquiring Lucasfilm.

“The Walt Disney Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer have decided not to renew their first-look deal when it expires next year, ending a relationship that’s been one of Hollywood’s more successful partnerships since the 1990s”.

Bruckheimer has come out and stated that he is looking forward to “more mature” features. This does not mean Bruckheimer will not be involved with the fifth installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean” and a third “National Treasure”, he will.

If his films weren't failing and trending downward Disney would keep partnering with him.  Disney is a business and a very successful one at that.  Marvel is making them money.  Lucasfilm will give them the ten story printing press for cash they've been eyeing for a while.

Maybe he wants to leave, but the quality of his films has never led me to belive that he actually believes in quality.

Uh yeah. Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm > Bruckheimer

Sadly, no loyalty in Hollywood. It's all about the money.

I love National Treasure, but they have waited way to long to make another.  I'm disappointed about that too.

Why didn't they just buy Bruckheimer? Then they could've bought Bay, LEGO, Hasbro, Spielberg, the presidency, Vladimir Putin, Syria...

LOL Miner, SOOOO true.  By 2020 Disney will have more money than GOD.  A lot of sci fi stories foretell of corporations running America.   Maybe Disney should take over the U.S. Government.  :p

The best news is a third National Treasure I didn't know if that was getting done, and hadn't heard anything in a while. Saves me checking on it.
