A big step forward in making a second sequel to TOY STORY a reality happened today as word was heard of Walt Disney Studios intent on creating a new digital animation office in Glendale, California. Chief among the new studio's projects is creation of TOY STORY 3, with David Stainton, Disney President of Feature Animation, shepherding its development. Whether there are any screenwriters working on a script for TOY STORY 3 is not known.
As you may recall, earlier comments by Disney CEO Michael Eisner revealed that he wants his company to work on two new TOY STORY films back-to-back, regardless if Pixar Animation, the company that created the first film, was still a partner with Disney or had moved on. It certainly seems as if Disney is preparing what its plans are for new CGI movies in a post-Pixar world.
