Walt Disney Pictures has picked up the rights to David Ignatius' novel THE INCREMENT. Jerry Bruckheimer will produce the film, whose story is described as very dark material.  The uber producer most recently produced NATIONAL TREASURE: BOOK OF SECRETS, DEJA VU, and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST.

The thriller centers on a shadowy, elite group of British undercover intelligence operatives who are conscripted by a CIA agent to help a weapons scientist defect from Iran.

Author David Ignatius, a Washington Post columnist, wrote the thriller BODY OF LIES, which was adapted for the big screen by William Monahan and directed  by Ridley Scott.

INCREMENT will published by WW Norton next year.

This should be fun. It seems like everything Bruckheimer produces always is or at least attempts to be a "popcorn movie". I'll be there.

Ok, that's weird. Out of the blue, I was just thinking about Deja Vu this morning. I couldn't remember the name, but I was sitting on the subway thinking about the movie. Then, I come in and there's a reference to it on the site. Odd.

Oh, and this movie sounds ok. Nothing spectacular. But you're right Wiseguy, if nothing else, Bruckheimer knows how to make fun summer popcorn movie.
