Disney preps A DAY WITH WILBUR ROBINSON

Walt Disney Feature Animation has announced a new CGI theatrical project based on childrens book author William Joyce's
A DAY WITH WILBUR ROBINSON, which tells the story of a young boy who makes a time machine. Steve Anderson, who developed the stories for
BROTHER BEAR and
THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE, will direct the film. Dorothy McKim will produce the film with Clark Spencer executive producing. Production is set to start in June for an anticipated 2006 release date.
William Joyce is best known as the creator of
ROLIE POLIE OLIE, a CGI television show for children that airs on the Disney Channel.
On a related note, Disney has shut down its Orlando, Florida animation studio effective today, even though that facility had produced the studio's best performing traditional animation films from the past decade. The stuido is choosing to focus on keeping its animation efforts close to home in California and creating more computer generated animated films.
