The first trailer

Here is the first trailer for Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained

Plot Concept: In Quentin Tarantino's new spaghetti Western, the title character Django (Jamie Foxx) is a freed slave, who under the tutelage of a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) becomes a badass bounty hunter himself. After assisting Waltz on taking down some bad guys for profit, he is in turn assisted by Waltz in tracking down his slave wife (Carrie Washington) and liberating her from an evil plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio). Described as a 100 percent popcorn/revenge flick, the story deals with racism and the evil slave owning south.

Django Unchained arrives in theaters December 25, 2012.

Um, it might be his nod to the spaghetti western, but unless it was shot in Italy with Italians playing is not a spaghetti western.  Reason why those films got thr label.

Outside the choice of song in the preview...liking what I'm seeing.

I like this to but will probably get the

violator14 6/6/2012 5:04:23 PM

to be quite honest, this movie has lost ALOT of its appeal for me without the   Kevin Costner/Kurt Russell character in there now.

violator:  Did they completely write out that character?  I figured they would just replace Russell.  It did scare me when it was reported that he walked off the set saying "This is NOT a western."

No no, this here is a racist movie, about slavery, people ownership and the South. My goodness what ever will people think.:)

Inner- I didn't necessarily mean the character itself, but the presence of a Russell/Costner in that role would've made the film 3 times better.

Wiseguy 6/6/2012 5:43:13 PM

I agree violator, but to me it just would've had more appeal not necessarily loose some

I love me some Russell.  Wish he was in the film.  He walked off and Costner declined to tour with his band.  Not sure what that says about the part.

Regarding the Russell character: I remember reading awhile back that QT wrote the character into an already existing character.  So he didn't write the character out, per se.  He just merged everything that character did (and probably some character traits) into one of the other roles.  I'll see if I can track down where I read it and will update with better details if I succeed.

That aside, this looks pretty damn great.  I love pretty much everything QT does, and this looks like a great follow-up to Basterds.
