IGN FILMFORCE responds to recent reports by E! Online that Robert De Niro and Billy Bob Thornton are on the short list for the role of
DOCTOR OCTOPUS in the upcoming
SPIDER-MAN 2 film, to be directed by Sam Raimi.
Additionally, Bruce Campbell, long-time Raimi collaborator, had been described as set to play
LIZARD in the film.
The film's producer, Laura Ziskin, "can safely deny all of those rumors." Campbell's role had not yet been determined, but he was confirmed as a cast member.
