The departure of the Ponds wasn't bad.  I had a certain scenario as to how it would happen already in mind and when Rory hops up on that ledge, I thought I'd nailed it.  I continue to believe that Matt Smith's Doctor should be described as Angsty-Wangsty as opposed to timey-wimey and that we are building towards some kind of monumental paradigm shift for the 50th.

 I wasn't fond of the the departure of the ponds.  It was a little anticlimatic.  It was all just a bit..."meh"...Rory continued to be a moron (get me back on that damn Tartis!)...so, that is what a wife does and the end.  But, I have to say, they were wearing on me.  Smith's Doctor is still a bit luke warm for me as well.  I do hope, for the next go around, they will give us a more "mature" Doctor. I'm a bit tired of the cutsey traveler and darling companions.  

Let's just hope the Doctor Who Christmas Special is better than the Star Wars Christmas Special.  :)

Last year's Dr Who Christmas special wasn't very good.  Let's hopw this one is better.

Karas1 - yeah the Christmas special was a massive let down. It had several interesting possible story ideas that just turned out to be fluff to pad out sentimentalism and so weren't developed. 

Except for the last few minutes with the long drawn out goodbyes, The End of Time remains the best Christmas special with The Next Doctor being a close second (anything with large robots gets my votes).

Millean - Nothing could be that bad.

InnerSanctum - I'm hoping for some more meaty stories now that the 'family' is out the way. Manic Doctor has been over used to hide poor storylines, look at The Power of Three's super quick 'wave the magic sonic screwdriver to fix everything while jumping around' 2 minute solution. I thought I'd nodded off and missed a bit and had to rewatched that section again to check. Matt can do some good material.

 I'm sure Smith could do more if given something better to work with.  I know "manic" has always been a componant of Doctor Who, but I feel his part has been getting more and more linear over the last few of years (The Doctor in general.)  The best episodes have taken their time.  They didn't need to jump all over the place. Why everyone enjoyed the Weeping Angels and now they have just become another monster.  That was the problem I had with the last episode...it had so little depth that it didn't have any emotional impact for me.  There have been episodes that truly had me on the edge of my seat and sent a shiver up my spine.  Just not lately.  Now I expect silly.  

You get little glimpses of what Matt can do but the writing team have kept the handbreak on the guy.
