I wish I got into the Dr. earlier in life. I'm so confused when I read some news about it. Multiple Dr's meeting but only in the Tardis? One Dr. being cloned from a hand, but not really the same Dr.? His name is important to the Galaxy? Very rich mythology. Where do I start?

It's going to be a looong wait.

The New Who was designed to be understood by people who were unfamilliar with Dr Who so I'd suggest starting with the episode Rose, the first ep of the 9th Doctor (Christopher Eccleston).

According to lore, the Doctor only gets 12 regenerations.  Of course, the Master has manipulated the system to gain more than 12 (once again, according to lore).  So this is apparently the 12th who has obviously had offscreen dealings with the 11th (or previous).

I'm still not sure how I felt about the ending other than, for the first time, I yelled outloud at my TV, "DAMN YOU MOFFAT!!!!"

So when listening to Matt Smith do the voice over dialogue with Clara, it really reminded me of Isaiah Washington as the Old Spice Man, and then I thought of the Doctor as the Old Spice Man.  Just imagine...

Companions... look at your Doctor, now back to me, now back to your Doctor, now back to me.  Sadly he isn't me, but he could smell like me if he jumped in his own timestream.  I'm on a Tardis.

Iusiphur while I'm aware of lore I think your wrong. I think it's very clearly a missing link between the 8th Doctor and the 9th Doctor. This is the "him" who fought in The Time War and slaughtered The Daleks.

The hypocratic oath is simply, "Do no harm."  John Hurt has done harm.  I think he may be "The Beast" that the great Intellegence was referring to when he mentioned that the doctor would take the forms of "The Oncoming Storm, The Beast, and The Valeyard."

Wyldstaar 5/20/2013 2:29:03 PM

The Valeyard is not a character I ever expected to see show up in Doctor Who again.  The entire premise was poorly executed in the Classic Era, and was a set-up of what was probably the dumbest storyline of the entire series- Trial of a Timelord.

I know the merging of Jenna-Louise with the Classic Who footage (and the use of doubles) was not perfect, but I watched the opening scene several times before watching the rest of the episode. That was fantastic!

Great Ep!  John Hurt as a Dr will bring this back to his old man roots which has all been young guys.  Hell I could use a full season with Hurt as the Dr.  I am pretty excited to see how this develops.
